This show marks Cal Dodd and Lenore Zann's first time voicing Wolverine and Rogue in 24 years and George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith and Adrian Hough's first time voicing Beast, Storm and Nightcrawler in 23 years, since Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000) for Cal Dodd and Lenore Zann and X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 (2001) for George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith and Adrian Hough.
This show marks both the first Marvel Studios project with the Marvel Animation banner and Marvel Studios' first X-Men project.
Jennifer Hale previously voiced Jean Grey/Phoenix in Wolverine and the X-Men (2008-2009), Marvel Anime (2010-2011), X-Men (2011), Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (2011) and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (2011).
The character of Morph first appeared in the comics in the 60's as "Changeling", an adversary turned ally, who died disguised as Xavier. For the 90's animated series he had the same powers and a similar look to the comics but was now named Morph. In 2001 the character was brought back in Exiles #1, but from a different reality. This version went by Morph as well, had chalk white skin and no nose or hair in base form, had vastly improved shapeshifting abilities, and a jokester demeaner. X-men '97 appears to have redesigned the original animated Morph to more closely resemble the Exiles version.
The character of Morph first appeared in the 90s X-Men animated series which this show is a sequel to, never before having appeared in the comics. In 1995, the comics introduced another shapeshifting character called Morph, albeit one with a pale, featureless appearance, who became a fan favourite. In this series, Morph adopts his comic counterpart's aesthetic.
