Irrfan Khan had signed Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bichde Sabhi Baari Baari (Yaara) in 2014. Starring Manoj Bajpayee,Irrfan Khan, Vidyut Jamwal,Amit Sadh,Shruti Hassan .It was the story of two friends. After it did not work out with Manoj Bajpayee, Irrfan Khan and Tigmanshu were to play the two friends. Tigmanshu dropped weight for the role. Yaara is a desi adaptation of the French film Les Lyonnais (A Gang Story). It is the story of their journey in life from 1955 to 2010. Tigmanshu relocated the plot and the characters to Uttarakhand where he is from. Once Irrfan left the project, Tigmanshu decided to give his own role to Amit Sadh and have Vidyut Jamwal play the older character that Irrfan was signed to play. Now Vidyut and Amit would play both the young and old characters in the film.

Film is releasing on 30th July 2020 on Zee5 OTT
Film is set in 70s and for a scene shows an announcement on Radio that singer Mukesh has passed away and Raj Kapoor says he lost his voice.
Film was directly released on Zee 5 OTT platform as it didn't find a theatrical release due to COVID 19 epidemic.
