IB 71 tells the tale of obstructing airspace to thwart air attack planning by Pakistan and China in tandem against India in 1971 against the backdrop of that conflict. The Indian Agencies decide to take a different path because they are unable to carry out the mission owing to procedure. Based on information concerning the hijacking of an aircraft from Kashmir to Jammu, IB agent Dev Jammwal participates in the hijacking in order to ultimately accuse Pakistan, which results in the airspace being blocked in accordance with international procedure. As IB agent Dev Jammwal, Vidyut Jammwal performs admirably. He portrays the part of an intelligence officer with restraint and an excellent underplay. He is fluid in the action scenes, and the more you see him, the more you think that Vidyut can make an engaging action tale. Anupam Kher portrays IB Chief N.S. Awasthi as his regular self, and he has honed the craft of playing people in this milieu over the years. Vishal Jethwa performs effectively, yet his character is inadequately developed. The large ensemble cast of the movie, which includes Dalip Tahil, Faizan Khan, Suvrat Joshi, and Mir Sarwar among others, everyone works well in their little roles.
