TRIVIA

Trivia

Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan all rejected the role eventually played by Vicky Arora.Feroz Khans assistant went to Shah Rukh Khan to sign the film. When Shah Rukh asked for a narration of the film from Feroz Khan himself, the assistant director walked off. After this ordeal, a film journalist asked Feroz Khan his opinion on the new Khan actor's. He said "They were all 5 feet tall".

It was during the Dubai schedule in December of 1991 that Feroz Khan introduced Sanjay Dutt to Dawood Ibrahim at a party.

Feroz Khan approached Amitabh Bachchan to play Mukesh Khanna's role. Amitabh declined the role for unknown reasons. At the time, Mukesh Khanna's role was that of Feroz Khan's older brother. When that casting did not work out, Feroz changed it to the role of his father and casted Mukesh Khanna. When people asked Feroz why he casted a much younger Mukesh as his father, Feroz answered that he signed Mukesh due to his portrayal of a old man in Mahabharat. He also mentioned that Amjad Khan played father to Amitabh so it was no big deal. Feroz Kham further stated Mukesh Khanna was no "spring chicken" and he was in fact very old and mature in real life . Feroz wanted to show the relationship between a grandfather and grandaughter in the film. This is the reason he could no longer make the role of a older brother.

Feroz Khan wanted to sign another actress for Nagma' s role. Industry insider's say Juhi Chawla was almost signed for the role. But Feroz got severe pressure from Dubai's underworld kingpin (Anees Ibrahim) to sign Nagma for the role. Anees is Dawood Ibrahim's younger brother .

Channi Singh of Alaap and his wife visited India in 1990. They first went to Delhi to meet some family members. Channi Singh wanted to meet some actors in regards to getting some work in India. His wife told him to show some confidence in himself and make the required calls. Channi's wife kept insisting he call the actor's at their office and speak to them. Channi and his wife then went to Bombay. Channi first called Dara Singh's office. Channi was able to get Dara Singh on the phone. Channi introduced himself to Dara. Dara was shocked that Channi was visiting in India. Channi asked Dara if he knew who he was. Dara replied of course he did. Channi's songs from his group Alaap were quite popular in Dara Singh's household. Dara Singh invited Channi over for dinner the next day. The next day Channi Singh called Feroz Khan's office. Channi was lucky to get Feroz Khan on the line. Feroz talked to Channi for a few minutes. Feroz asked Channi how he was doing when did he come to Delhi. Feroz then asked how business was doing etc. Feroz then asked Channi Singh.. "How was Coca Cola doing ??". Channi was lost and confused by this question. Channi told Feroz he did not understand what he meant. Feroz asked Channi, wasn't he Charanjit Singh , of India's Coca Cola??. Channi told him no he was Channi Singh from London. He was looking to collaborate with some producers and find some work in Bollywood .Feroz had a good laugh and told him he was happy to speak to him. He asked Channi to come to his office the next day. Channi went over the next day with his cassette tapes to Feroz Khan's office. Feroz had earlier listened to the songs and the copied ones ( Hatya, Dil) but did not know they were done by Alaap. After a year Feroz Khan rang Channi Singh in England.. When Channi answered the phone Feroz said " Hello.. Its Khan speaking". Channi was confused as a year had passed and could not recognize the voice. Feroz replied " Im Feroz Khan". Feroz Khan told Channi he was making a film and wanted him to do the music. Channi was shocked and his heart was racing. This was unexpected and was amazed a huge star like Feroz Khan wanted to work with him. Feroz told Channi he would call the next day and he wanted either a yes or no. The next day a elated Channi Singh told Feroz Khan yes he would do the music. Feroz flew down to England in 1991 to record the music. Some of the compositions were made on the plane by Feroz and Channi Singh during Feroz's flight from Bombay to England. He was reading the lyrics and Channi was listening to them over the phone ( Using a phone on the airplane was almost unheard of in 1991). The other songs took a few days to compose. The music was eventually sold for a unheard of price to TIPS audio and CD company. Feroz Khan received the highest amount ever for a film, for the music rights of Yalgaar.
