Verdict
The HP ProBook 4540S (D5J93PA) is a decent laptop with the ability to handle all kinds of simple computing needs, both business and gaming. In order to account for the price, the company has skipped out any user friendly OS and include a poor RAM. The mighty battery backup increases its value to a great extent.

Display and Design
 
The HP ProBook 4540S (D5J93PA) arrives with a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit Anti Glare display which features a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and enables you to work for an extended period of time by stopping the harmful unwanted rays from reaching your eyes. It is encased in an anodized aluminium finished body which has a weight of 2.5 kg and a thickness of 28.7 mm.
 
CPU and Platform
 
Doing the duty under the hood is a 3rd generation Intel Core i3 processor racing at 2.4 GHz and based on HM77 Express chipset. It is supported by a 2GB DDR3 RAM operating at 1333MHz which is a bit disappointing although it can be expanded up to 8GB via 2 SODIMM slots. The presence of 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7650M graphics card ensures better management of rich videos and movies. It comes preloaded with DOS which is another area where HP has saved a lot.
