Specifications-nn1.Core i3-3217u processor. Ultra low power consuming 17W whereas regular processors consume 35W.nn2.Intel HD4000 integrated graphics.Remember that 3rd gen processors provide Intel HD4000 whereas 2nd gen processors provide Intel HD3000.Former i.e. Intel HD4000 provide 60-65% better graphics than the latter.nn3.Ultra slim - just 19.8mm thin. Really, thats what you call thin. For this price, its a deal sealer.nn4.15.6 Inch LED backlit screen.nn5.4 GB DDR3 RAM. More than sufficient.nn6.500 GB hard disk drive.nn7.Beats Audio with built-in-subwoofer.Super awesome quality.nn8.2X3.0 USB ports,1X2.0 USB port,1 HDMI port,1 SD card reader,1 Microphone and 1X3.5mm Audio jack.nn9.Connectivity options-Bluetooth 4.0,Wlan b/g/n.nn10.Brilliant 8 hours battery backup.nnNow for the review:nnPROS:nn1. Powerful 3rd gen processor. Good for everyday use like watching movies, browsing and other ordinary tasks.nn2.At par graphics. Satisfactory for watching HD movies but not advised for games and 3d stuff.nn3.Super slim and its light weight features are mind blowing. 1.75 kg for the 14 inch version and 2.03 kg for 15 inch version.nn4.4 GB RAM is sufficient for everyday use and 500 GB HDD serves most of the purpose.nn5. Various USB ports provide a lot of connectivity options. USB 3.0 is another feather in the cap. HDMI port allows joining of the laptop to external display. SD card reader allows memory cards to read by the laptop. Microphone,Audio jack and 1.0 MP HD Webcam fill the connectivity kitty.nn6.Beats audio with built-in-subwoofer is truly awesome. It fills the room with quality sound. I was surprised by the fact that this great audio is provided without compromising the battery life.nn7.The element that caught my eye was the battery life. HP promised 8 hours of battery, whilst i got around 7.5 hours on a single charge, around 5.5-6 hours while watching movies, and 4-4.5 while playing games. The battery takes around 1.5 hours to charge to 85-90% thanks to Rapid Charge Technology and another 1.5 hours to get fully charged. While I was hoping to squeeze 5 hours of battery atmost, it exceeded my expectations surprisingly.nn8.Built quality is super premium. Brushed metal finish. Beautiful and stylish. I love the ruby red base the most.nn9.It's a super quite laptop. I have never the experienced the fan making noise.nnCONS:nn1.Its a fingerprint magnet. Since it has brushed metal finish it attracts a lot smudges. Well it is taken care by wet wipe. But still it looks bad if you emphasize the looks.nn2.Power button looks kinda cheap. One has to press it twice just to make sure that that laptop is switched on.nn3.The keyword is well spaced but it attracts a lot of dust which is difficult to clean since it has a lot of empty space beneath the keys.nn4.The screen is bright enough due to LED Back lighting, but its has really poor viewing angles. One has to constantly adjust the screen angles which is quite irritating.nn5.HD Webcam is not so good as well. nn6.No backlit keyboard, It's a pain in the a**. Well I constantly complain about not having a backlit keyboard. It kinda makes up for the increased battery life. Well for the guys who work late at night you'll need some external form of lighting otherwise typing would be a mess.nn7.Windows Home Basic is demoralizing. For 40k, we ought to get atleast Home Premium.nn8.Since the heat grill is beneath, it gets in the way of cooling the laptop. But don't worry, the laptop doesn't get too hot. It gets hot when you are charging and using the laptop at same time. Heat grills at the sides would have been highly appreciated.nnFINAL VERDICT:nnAt an astonishing affordable price of 40K, the HP Envy series is box of surprises.Ultra slim beauty yet powerful, great audio and lightweight, excellent battery life is what attracted me to it.nBesides the factors HP is providing 1 year onsite Accidental Damage Protection with 1 year more extended warranty. After you buy the laptop they are willing to provide one year more warranty at a meager price of 999+taxes=1133 . So one can get 3 years of warranty easily.
I have this machine and was so impressed by it in the first two months that suggested a friend to buy it and he got it too, just on my word. But after two months only, its left hinge got displaced from its position and resulted in the screen toppling at the back. Got the whole display panel changed by HP twice (Yes, two times the same laptop ditched me. But no issue on their service though). Adding fuel to the fire was the situation when my friend also faced the same problem. We both got the problem covered under ADP, but still there is no guarantee that it will not happen again. The concerned engineer from HP also said that there are a lot of similar complaints arising regarding the same model, as the plastic used in the model for bezel and other internal parts is of cheap quality, and is unable to hold the steel hinge for a longer period of time.nnAs far as the working and performance is concerned, majority of the laptops in the same class can't even dare to stand on the same platform of envy 6-1011tu.nnMy final word is that it has one of the finest working machines installed in it, but had it used some better material for its manufacturing, it would have ruled the world. Alas! the cheap material makes its life shorter than any other laptop.
