Amid reports of OnePlus shutting down in some global markets, it seems the company is very much active in India and China. The brand just launched the OnePlus 15T in its home country and is gearing up to announce the OnePlus Nord 6 in India soon. On Tuesday, OnePlus officially announced that the Nord 6 will launch in India on April 7th with a massive 9,000mAh battery and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, among other things. We also got an indication of the phone’s price range.

OnePlus Nord 6 will be priced under Rs 40,000
In yesterday’s press release, OnePlus mentioned that the Nord 6 will feature the largest battery in the Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000 segment. This is a clear indication that the OnePlus Nord 6 will be priced under Rs 40,000. To recall, the OnePlus Nord 5 (review) was launched last year in July with a starting price of Rs 31,999. Given the rise in smartphone prices due to the global chip shortage, a price hike for the OnePlus Nord 6 was expected.
The exact price of the OnePlus Nord 6 will be announced on April 7th at 7 PM. You can expect some bank discounts or introductory offers to further sweeten the deal and narrow the price gap between the Nord 6 and its predecessor.
First OnePlus phone in India with a 9,000mAh battery
In keeping with the recent trend of packing massive batteries into phones, the OnePlus Nord 6 will feature a 9,000mAh battery. This will be the first OnePlus phone in India to offer a battery of this size. OnePlus is promising 2.5 days of battery life on moderate usage. That would pretty much eliminate battery anxiety if it holds true. Here’s what OnePlus claims the Nord 6’s battery can deliver:

The 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery inside the OnePlus Nord 6 ses 15% silicon content, allowing OnePlus to keep the phone’s form factor on the slimmer side.
Additionally, the OnePlus Nord 6 supports 80W charging, which takes around 70 minutes to fully charge the 9,000mAh battery.
First phone in its segment to offer 165 fps gaming
Since the OnePlus Nord 6 comes with a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, similar to the one on the OnePlus 15, the company is able to promise sustained 165 fps gaming on popular titles like BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Free Fire Max. No other phone in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment currently offers 165 fps gaming. The OnePlus Nord 5, for reference, features a 144Hz display, as does the newer Nothing Phone (4a) and Realme 16 Pro.
Promising 165 fps gaming would be a big deal for mobile gamers, as the smoother frame rates and improved touch sampling of 3200Hz via a dedicated Touch Reflex Chip should provide an edge in competitive gaming.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 powers the OnePlus Nord 6
The OnePlus Nord 6 gets the 4nm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, which delivers clock speeds up to 3.2GHz. Its predecessor, the Nord 5, was powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
We have seen the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 power the likes of the OPPO K13 Turbo Pro, so we have a good idea of what the chipset can offer in terms of performance. The OPPO phone scored just over 2 million on AnTuTu during our in-house testing. OnePlus claims the Nord 6 can score over 2.5 million, but we will have to test this claim when we review the device.
Either way, expect a noticeable improvement in performance over the Nord 5, which scored around 1.4 million in AnTuTu.
OnePlus Nord 6 gets a G2 Wi-Fi chip
The G2 Wi-Fi chip is a custom-made chip to offer enhanced connectivity in congested environments. OnePlus’ goal here is to offer uninterrupted signal reception, especially during competitive gaming. The G2 chip, paired with 5G Advanced support, promises to deliver 3 times faster peak data speeds with partners like Reliance Jio. So, if you’re connected to Jio’s Wi-Fi, you should be able to experience lag-free streaming, gaming, and more. This is something we will be testing in our full review.
OnePlus Nord 6 will be available on Amazon India
OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord 6 will be sold on Amazon India, continuing the brand’s long-standing partnership with the e-commerce platform. You should also be able to purchase the Nord 6 via the company’s official website. OnePlus has revealed that the Nord 6 will be available in Quick Silver, Fresh Mint, and Pitch Black colours.
Based on everything OnePlus has revealed so far, the Nord 6 will look to stand out for its massive 9,000mAh battery and 165 fps gaming, two features that are likely to impress heavy mobile gamers. If a massive battery and top-tier mobile gaming performance are your absolute priorities, the Nord 6 appears promising, but it’s advisable to await the official pricing and full reviews before making a decision.
