Table of Contents
Trends in peripheral ownership
Among survey respondents, Logitech tops the charts with 28.3 percent of people owning a Logitech accessory, indicating a strong hold in the gaming peripherals segment. The brand is widely known for its mice, keyboards, monitors, headsets, and other equipment across price segments.
Not far behind is Zebronics, the renowned Indian maker of peripherals and PC accessories. It managed to garner an ownership share of 25.8 percent.
Logitech leads the charts; the strong presence of Indian brands like Zebronics and Ant Esports is a development worth watching.
Ant Esports follows at 21.9 percent, ahead of bigger international names, such as Razer, Cosmic Byte, HyperX, and others
As noted in a separate report, Logitech comfortably gets ahead of others as the top choice of peripheral brand, with 18.2 percent of respondents planning to buy its peripherals next.
While Logitech’s product portfolio spans everything from entry-level office gear to high-end pro esports peripherals, high interest in the brand could also be attributed towards its strong “legacy” status.
Razer comes in second at 12.7 percent, showing strong interest among users looking to upgrade, while HyperX follows closely in third place with 10.1 percent.
When asked about the brand of the gaming monitor they currently own, around 13 percent of respondents use ASUS-branded monitors. Known for its ROG and TUF series of laptops and peripherals, ASUS offers a mix of premium, innovative and reliable mid-range options to both serious gamers and enthusiasts.
Samsung follows closely at 11.3 percent. Be it TVs, laptops, smartphones, or gaming monitors, the brand specialises in innovative panel technology, making it one of the safest choices for a great display experience.
Acer comes up next with 9.5 percent share, followed by LG at 8.2 percent. Both brands have been operating in the PC and monitor industry for a while now, which translates to strong trust from users and potential buyers.
With ASUS being a prominent player in the PC space, users likely see it as the brand that delivers both cutting-edge features and reliability; therefore, about 22 percent of respondents are willing to opt for ASUS gaming monitors.
With Samsung already gaining a large ownership among survey takers, 15 percent share of respondents claim they’d purchase a Samsung monitor.
This is followed by MSI and Lenovo with 9.4 percent and 8.5 percent of respondents interested in buying monitors from these brands, respectively.
Aspects that matter most while purchasing a new peripheral
Nearly 59.3 percent of gamers prefer a 27-inch or larger screen, showing a clear shift toward bigger displays for immersive gaming experiences.
On the other hand, 29 percent of respondents prefer or resort to playing games on their TV or laptop.
When it comes to choosing gaming monitors, high refresh rate is clearly the biggest deciding factor, with 35.6 percent of respondents preferring this aspect over other given options.
Together, refresh rate and price account for over 62 percent of what matters most when buying a gaming monitor.
The survey report indicates that one in two people seek at least 144Hz refresh rate support for gaming. Given that most laptop brands now offer 144Hz displays starting at around Rs 50,000 in India, we are seeing growing interest in high refresh rate displays.
On the other hand, 75Hz refresh is considered sufficient by only 9.7 percent, the refresh rate numbers don’t matter to 8.6 percent of the survey takers.
The monitor stands out as the single most important gaming peripheral, ahead of the mouse, headset, audio gear, and keyboard. This could be attributed to the desire for a good visual experience when playing games or watching movies/shows on a large display.
Together, monitor and mouse account for 60 percent of what gamers value most.
How people prefer to purchase a new peripheral
While the majority of gamers are willing to spend more than Rs 1,000 on a gaming mouse, the sweet spot lies in the affordable price range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000. Within this price range, brands offer decent optical sensors, programmable buttons, adjustable DPI, good ergonomics, and even RGB lighting.
Only about 6 percent of respondents are willing to spend more than Rs 6,000 on a mouse, likely due to budget constraints.
Just like in the case of a gaming mouse, A strong majority of around 65 percent of gamers are willing to spend above Rs 1,500 on a gaming keyboard, but the sweet spot remains the affordable mid-range Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000 price bracket.
The reasoning could be that keyboards falling in this range are sufficient for casual gaming and office use, making them a practical choice in a price-sensitive market like India.
Almost 50 percent of the respondents purchase their gaming gear and peripherals from online platforms, more prominently Amazon and Flipkart. This could be due to ease of access, widespread logistics connectivity and convenience of shopping from the comfort of home.
On the other hand, a good chunk of respondents prefer visiting offline stores to purchase or check out peripherals. This allows them to experience the products beforehand and make the buying decision based on their hands-on.
Interestingly, 13.5 percent of gamers resort to dedicated websites that deal in PC peripherals and accessories, while 9.7 percent purchase products from brands’ websites.
