Acer Super Series 43-inch 4K QLED TV Review: A Budget-Friendly Powerhouse with Premium Features

Acer’s new Super Series lineup of TVs aims to deliver premium features at an affordable price. Among the lineup is the Acer Super Series 43-inch 4K QLED TV, a sleek and feature-rich television designed to cater to diverse needs—be it gaming, streaming, or everyday viewing.

After spending over a week testing this TV, it’s clear that Acer has made an impressive effort to stand out in this competitive segment.

Design and Build Quality

The Acer Super Series 43-inch 4K QLED TV comes with a premium design that stands out in the budget television segment. Its aluminium chassis gives it a sturdy and sophisticated look, while the metallic feet add to its robust build quality.

We feel that the minimal bezels enhance the viewing experience, providing a pretty seamless frame that doesn’t distract from the display. As for the rear panel, it is mostly made of aluminium, except for the section housing the I/O ports, which is plastic.

What truly sets this TV apart from its budget competitors is the solid build quality. Unlike many flimsy options in the same price range, the Acer Super Series TV feels durable and well-constructed.

There’s no noticeable wobble when placed on a surface, ensuring a stable setup. This, combined with a premium design and sturdy construction makes it a reliable option for any home.

Display Quality

The 43-inch 4K QLED panel on this TV is one of its most prominent features. It offers 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, resulting in vivid and vibrant picture quality. Colours appear rich, and the overall display is well-suited for casual content consumption, gaming, and everyday use. Additionally, the TV shows no signs of backlight bleeding, making sure that the viewing experience is without distracting patches.

However, the brightness level is a point of contention. While Acer claims a peak brightness of 420 nits, it feels slightly lower in real-world use, particularly when consuming HDR or Dolby Vision content.

In effect, HDR content is supported, but the brightness limitation prevents it from fully showcasing the dynamic range and depth that HDR is known for. Standard dynamic range (SDR) content, such as cartoons or sitcoms, performs well, but HDR content may leave users wishing for more brightness. Even so, with the TV generally being used indoors, the less-than-ideal brightness levels should not pose too much of a problem.

Software

Acer has equipped the Super Series TV with Google TV, running on the latest Android 14. As with most devices running this OS, the software experience is smooth and responsive, with no lag or stuttering during navigation. With 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the TV handles all standard applications efficiently.

Talking about the UI itself, our testing found it to be intuitive and snappy, making it easy to access features and applications. Picture settings offer a range of customization options, including a dynamic mode for vibrant colours and advanced settings for adjusting colour temperature, contrast, and MEMC (motion smoothing). AI enhancements for skin tones and textures further elevate the viewing experience for specific types of content.

For gamers, the TV includes features like auto low-latency mode and a dedicated gaming 120Hz mode. However, enabling the gaming mode switches the display to an interlaced format (2160i), which may introduce visible lines. Acer recommends relying on external devices like gaming consoles to provide native 120Hz refresh rates for a better gaming experience. We tried a few games on the TV, like God of War, and were impressed with what the TV had to offer.

I/O

The Acer Super Series TV offers a comprehensive selection of ports, catering to both modern and legacy devices. It includes three HDMI 2.1 ports capable of supporting 4K at 120Hz, making it ideal for gaming consoles and high-performance laptops. Additionally, there are USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, an RJ45 LAN port, an antenna input, an optical audio output, and 3.5mm audio jacks for headphones or analogue AV input.

Connectivity options are further enhanced by dual-band Wi-Fi support, ensuring seamless streaming of online content. The remote control includes dedicated buttons for popular streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and Hotstar. While functional, the remote’s build quality is lacking—the bottom panel tends to loosen easily, which can be frustrating for users.

Audio

The Acer Super Series TV truly excels in audio performance. With an 80-watt sound output and Dolby Atmos support, the sound quality is full-bodied, loud, and immersive. The soundstage is impressively wide, providing a cinematic experience without the need for an additional soundbar.

The TV delivers rich bass and clear vocals, making it suitable for a variety of content, from movies and music to sports and gaming. Compared to other TVs in its segment, the audio quality stands out as a major strength, easily surpassing expectations for a budget-friendly television.

Final Verdict

The Acer Super Series 43-inch 4K QLED TV is an impressive offering that balances premium features with a budget-friendly price of Rs 35,999 (on Amazon). Its sleek design, sturdy aluminium build, and minimal bezels make it a stylish addition to any room. The vibrant QLED panel provides excellent colour reproduction, though its limited brightness slightly hampers HDR performance.

The inclusion of Google TV with Android 14 ensures a smooth and intuitive software experience, while the robust port selection, including HDMI 2.1, caters to gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. Audio quality is a standout feature, delivering rich, immersive sound that outperforms its competition.

That said, there are a few downsides. The remote’s build quality could be improved, and the limited brightness in HDR content might leave some users wanting more. Despite these shortcomings, the pros of this TV far outweigh the cons, making it a strong contender for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment setup during the festive season.

If you’re in the market for a new television, the Acer Super Series 43-inch QLED TV is well worth considering, especially for its excellent sound, sturdy design, and gamer-friendly features.
