GIGABYTE has unveiled its new GAMING Series power supply units. The brand says it is designed for safety in high-performance systems using next-generation GPUs. The series offers 750W, 850W, and 1000W capacities in Black and Ice editions. It introduces T-Guard, an active thermal monitoring system, which addresses a major safety concern in modern PC building.
The 12V-2×6 connector, used to power current high-end GPUs like the RTX 5090, has faced scrutiny due to reports of damage to the connector on previous hardware. Most PSUs handle this passively. If something goes wrong, the system either crashes or, in severe cases, the connector melts. GIGABYTE’s T-Guard takes a different approach.
Precision thermistors inside the 12V-2×6 connector monitor temperatures in real time. GIGABYTE says if the system detects overheating due to a loose cable or abnormal load, it triggers an alert and intelligently reduces power to the GPU while keeping the rest of the system operational. This should give users time to save their work and switch to integrated graphics for display access. Meanwhile, it shuts down safely before any damage occurs. GIGABYTE refers to this as a triple layer of protection:
This innovative feature is particularly useful for builders using power-hungry GPUs at the top of the RTX 50 Series.
The GAMING Series has dual Cybenetics certifications: ETA Platinum for efficiency and LAMBDA A+ for noise levels. The ETA Platinum rating, along with 80 PLUS Gold status, indicates high energy efficiency and less wasted heat. The LAMBDA A+ certification shows an average noise level below 20 dB(A), making it almost silent under typical conditions.
Furthermore, a 135mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan provides active cooling. The HybridCool technology turns off the fan completely during low loads. This means the PSU operates silently for light tasks and only turns on when necessary.
The GAMING Series uses 100% Japanese capacitors and complies fully with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. This should ensure compatibility with current and future GPU generations. The dual-colour cable design on the 12V-2×6 connector helps prevent connection errors, allowing builders to quickly check for a secure connection. The series comes with a 10-year warranty.

The PSU market in the 750W to 1000W range is competitive, with strong alternatives from Seasonic, Corsair, and be quiet!, all offering Platinum-rated units with similar noise levels. What should make the GIGABYTE GAMING Series stand out is the T-Guard connector monitoring system. No other PSU currently includes it as a standard feature. For builders using an RTX 5090 or planning a high-wattage system, T-Guard offers protection that passive designs cannot match.
The dual Cybenetics certification also distinguishes it from most competitors, which typically have only 80 PLUS ratings. Cybenetics testing occurs under a wider range of load conditions and is seen as a more thorough standard. This gives buyers more confidence in the actual efficiency and noise performance.
For most mid-range gaming setups, the 750W version will comfortably support configurations with RTX 5070 Ti and lower. The 850W is a safer choice for RTX 5080 builds with demanding CPUs, while the 1000W is suitable for RTX 5090 systems or anyone planning to overclock significantly. The T-Guard technology makes the GAMING Series especially appealing for those using high-end GPUs where connector reliability is crucial. The 10-year warranty eliminates long-term ownership concerns. Pricing for the Indian market has not been confirmed as of now.
