[Exclusive] Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro complete specifications revealed ahead of launch
The full Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro spec sheet is out, well ahead of the phones becoming official.
Update August 2025: The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were launched in October 2023, confirming the specifications revealed in this exclusive leak. Both smartphones debuted with OLED displays, Tensor G3 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, 50MP cameras, and optical fingerprint scanner, among other things. Just a couple of days ago, we got our hands on a Google Pixel 8 series promo video to give you a complete overview of the upcoming smartphones’ cameras, before the company could officially announce things. - The Pixel 8 will be available in Obsidian, Hazel and Rose colour options, while the Pixel 8 Pro will come in Obsidian, Porcelain and Bay. The Pixel 8 has gotten a negligible reduction in the screen size, down from the 6.3-inch display in the predecessor. However, both have gotten significantly brighter screens from their outgoing counterparts.
- The Pixel 8 Pro should be more durable this year, as it comes with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be getting OS and security updates for seven years, up from the five Google previously offered. The Pixel 8 is slightly lighter at 187 grams than the Pixel 8 Pro, which will weigh 213 grams.
- As highlighted in our previous exclusive, Google is supplementing the phones’ camera capabilities with features like Real Tone, Night Sight, Astrophotography, Super Res Zoom, and the ability to swap faces in an image likely through Magic Editor. Google has added Video Boost and Light Sight for low-light videos, and Audio Eraser for reduced ambient background sounds for videos.
