Design and display

When it comes to design, Honor deserves full marks. The Apple-inspired aesthetics give it a sleek and premium look, which is further reinforced by its superb build quality. There’s no flex, whether on the lid or the keyboard deck. The laptop is very sturdy, and crafted entirely from aluminium.
The display features a 14-inch, 60Hz IPS panel with a 1200p resolution, 300 nits peak brightness, and 100 percent sRGB colour gamut coverage. This makes it excellent for content consumption, as it offers vibrant colours and great viewing angles. However, the second key component for media consumption — speakers — falls short.
Don’t get us wrong — the high and mid-range sound quality is decent, but the low-end is noticeably lacking. If you want to enhance the speakers, you can tweak the settings using the Honor PC Manager app built into Windows. The AI audio feature allows you to customize the sound profile with various modes such as Dynamic, Movie, Music, and more. This helps compensate, to some extent, for the underwhelming performance.
Keyboard, trackpad and I/O
In the price class of under Rs 60,000, this is one of the best keyboards we have tested. The keys have really good tactile feedback. Add that with a good backlighting system, and silent keys, it’s a win for everybody.
The trackpad, unfortunately, is a standard plastic one that performs as expected. As for I/O, you get a basic setup: a USB-A port and an audio combo jack on the right side, and on the left side, an HDMI port, a USB-A port, and a USB Type-C port. We wish Honor had included an extra Type-C port, as the single one provided will likely be occupied when charging the laptop, leaving you unable to use USB-C accessories simultaneously.
Performance
Now before talking about the performance, let’s talk about the specifications. The Honor MagicBook Pro X14 has an Intel Core i5 13420H with 8 cores and 12 threads, 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of SSD. The GPU inside the laptop is powered by Intel UHD graphics. We got a unique opportunity to test out the laptop with two variants: one with 8GB of RAM and another with 16GB of RAM. Both the laptops were identical except for one key difference: The 8GB RAM variant was powered by the Intel Core i5 12500H with 12 cores and 16 threads. So, how did the performance fare between the two laptops? Here is the comparison:
Gaming performance
Game | 8GB model average FPS | 16GB model average FPS |
GTA V (very high preset: 1200p) | 37 | 40 |
Valorant (low preset: 1200p) | 178 | 187 |
Synthetic performance
Benchmarks | 8GB model | 16GB model |
Geekbench (Single Core) | 2332 | 2188 |
Geekbench (Multi-Core) | 9133 | 8210 |
3D Mark Time Spy | 1081 | 1021 |
3D Mark Fire Strike | 3237 | 3012 |
So, in conclusion, addition of RAM does benefit your device, especially when gaming.
This is a very smartly configured machine by Honor. In terms of thermals, you get only a single fan inside the MagicBook X14 Pro, and a single fat copper heat pipe to take the heat out of the system. When you push this system, the temperatures reach up to 85 degrees and never cross beyond it, which is acceptable in our opinion.
Battery life

Regarding battery life, the MagicBook X14 Pro features a 60 Wh battery. In our testing, it achieved 8 hours and 30 minutes of video playback at 80% brightness using the PCMark 10 benchmark. The 8GB variant, however, has a better battery life of around 9 hours and 14 minutes.
The charger bundled is a 65W adapter, however, it is very oddly designed as it is huge and does not fit easily in the normal sockets that are present in our homes.
Verdict
If you’re in the market for a high-quality non-gaming laptop under Rs 60,000, the Honor MagicBook X14 Pro 16GB RAM variant is a standout option. It offers a sleek, portable, and premium design that’s perfect for both work and casual use. The build quality is excellent, and the aluminium body not only looks great but also ensures durability.
The laptop’s battery life is another strong point, delivering impressive longevity that can easily support a full day of work or entertainment. With a balanced combination of performance, portability, and premium aesthetics, the Honor MagicBook X14 Pro is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a reliable and stylish laptop without breaking the bank.
