Honor Robot Phone launched with 200MP titanium gimbal camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Highlights

Honor has finally turned its unusual Robot Phone concept into a commercial smartphone. First teased alongside the Magic8 series last year and later shown as a prototype, the Robot Phone has now launched in China with a motorised gimbal camera, flagship hardware and a large battery. It starts at CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1.4 lakh), making it considerably more expensive than conventional camera-focused flagships.

Specifications and features

The biggest attraction is a 200MP main camera built into a four-degree-of-freedom titanium gimbal. Honor says the gimbal uses more than 100 precision components and over 60 manufacturing processes, while its 2.6 gm motor is only 6 mm thick. The complete mechanism fits within the phone’s 9.6 mm body, although the Robot Phone weighs 248 gms.
