It looks like this will only go further, as a new leak says a 14,000mAh to 15,000mAh battery is now being tested, which could provide power for about a week. While the leak doesn’t mention the specific brand, it’s speculated that it could be Honor.
Honor testing 14,000mAh, 15,000mAh smartphone battery
According to a post on Weibo by Digital Chat Station (DCS), a 14,000mAh-15,000mAh large-capacity battery is currently being tested, and this prototype can last for an entire week. DCS hasn’t revealed the brand’s name, but replies to the post suggest it could be Honor. Some argue that it’s not Honor, but GizmoChina also suggests it’s Honor.
Also, this isn’t the first we’re hearing about this, as it was tipped earlier this year that Honor is working on a 14,000mAh battery phone. Honor is also known for offering large battery phones like the recently launched Win RT 2 and Win Turbo 2 phones, which offer 12,070mAh batteries.
Fitting a 14,000mAh or 15,000mAh battery in a phone might result in bulkiness, but DCS adds that the thickness won’t be excessive since it’s a high-density battery. Smartphone companies have been using silicon-carbon batteries that are large in terms of capacity but still help the phone maintain a slim and light design. Honor will most likely follow this approach too.
If this phone ever does commercialise, it’s expected to offer the best battery life, which will last for an entire week.
