Honor working on a phone with a massive 14,000mAh battery, claims tipster

Highlights
  • A new leak claims Honor is developing a smartphone with an approximately 14,000mAh battery after launching a phone with an 11,000mAh battery.
  • The phone may be limited to China due to European battery regulations.
  • The Realme P4 Power offers a 10,001mAh battery in India.

Smartphone batteries have been getting bigger over the past year, but Honor may already be preparing to take things much further. According to a new leak, the company is testing a phone with a massive 14,000mAh battery, nearly double the capacity of flagship phones for which 7,000mAh seems to have become a standard. However, there’s one major limitation that could prevent it from reaching global markets.

Honor 14,000mAh phone in the works

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims Honor is developing a smartphone with an approximately 14,000mAh battery. The company recently launched the Honor X80 Pro Max in China with an 11,000mAh battery, making this an even bigger leap if it reaches production.

The tipster also suggests the phone could weigh around 220 gms. While that is heavier than many mainstream smartphones, it would still be lighter than some recent premium flagships. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra weighs 214 gms, while the iPhone 17 Pro Mac weighs 233 gms. Those pack much smaller batteries, so this is going to be a mean feat for Honor if the company achieves it.

No other hardware specifications have surfaced yet. However, based on Honor’s claims for the X80 Pro Max, a 14,000mAh battery could comfortably deliver over four days of use on a single charge for many users. That could make it appealing for travellers, outdoor workers and anyone who spends long periods away from a charger. However, Honor would need to work on the charging speed also as a big battery would take longer to charge. The X80 Pro Max, for context, can charge at 90W, while also supporting 27W reverse wired charging.

Honor 14,000mAh phone may not launch globally

However, the biggest hurdle for this phone could be regulations rather than technology. European rules limit the battery capacity allowed in each battery cell inside a smartphone. Even if Honor uses a dual-cell design, a combined 14,000mAh capacity would likely exceed those limits in its current form. That means the phone may remain exclusive to China and other markets unless Honor develops a different battery configuration for international markets.

Honor sees battery capacity as a huge selling point. The company started the recent trend of mainstream smartphones with 10,000mAh batteries with the Honor Win series in December 2025, followed soon after by the Realme P4 Power, which arrived in India with a 10,001mAh battery. Rugged phones from brands such as Doogee have featured batteries as large as 22,000mAh, but those devices are designed for specialised use rather than everyday consumers.

For buyers, this leak signals where the smartphone industry could be heading. Battery capacity is becoming a stronger selling point as companies start cutting corners with performance. That said, if you need a new phone today, it makes more sense to buy based on the overall package rather than waiting for an unannounced device that may never launch outside China.
