Honor X80 Pro Max to launch as first phone with 10,000 nits display

Highlights
  • Honor X80 Pro Max’s display is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits peak brightness.
  • The handset is also getting a massive 11,000mAh battery.
  • Honor X80 Pro Max launch is scheduled for June 22nd.

Honor knows how to make a statement. It launched the first phone with an 8,000mAh battery, which is the Honor Power, and now the brand plans to push the numbers even further. The upcoming Honor X80 Pro Max is launching in China on June 22nd with a massive 11,000mAh battery and a peak screen brightness capable of exceeding 10,000 nits. This would make the Honor X80 Pro Max the brightest smartphone screen announced to date.

Honor X80 Pro Max 10,000 nits display

The Honor X80 Pro Max’s display is a 6.8-inch 1.5K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-slim 1.3mm bezels. However, the bigger talking point is the peak brightness level that is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits. This is a tall claim, as most phones offer around 5,000 nits as the highest level, which is also quite rare to find. With a 10,000 nits display, the Honor X80 Pro Max would be incredibly bright, especially in situations where you’re outdoors with heavy sunlight.

Honor X80 Pro Max specifications

Not just the display, the Honor X80 Pro Max is also confirmed to house a massive 11,000mAh battery. With this capacity, the smartphone will comfortably offer multi-day usage, making it an ideal choice for gamers and power users. Despite the massive cell, Honor claims the phone remains relatively slim at 8.08mm and weighs 203g.

The X80 Pro Max also emphasises durability, featuring SGS-certified drop protection, IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, and a free screen replacement program for accidental drops.

Under the hood, leaks point to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, suggesting the device is aimed more at battery-conscious mainstream users than performance enthusiasts. Camera hardware appears modest, with reports pointing to a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.

If battery life, durability, and display visibility rank above gaming performance and advanced photography, the Honor X80 Pro Max could become one of the most compelling value-focused smartphones of 2026. However, those prioritising better cameras or performance may still find higher-end alternatives more appealing.
