Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus subscriptions roll out with Story insights, profile customisation and more
Meta is expanding beyond ads and verification badges with a new set of paid subscriptions for its social platforms. The company has officially launched Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus subscriptions at USD 3.99 (around Rs 380) per month each, alongside WhatsApp Plus at USD 2.99 (around Rs 290) per month, as it looks to monetise users across its apps.
The new subscriptions come with extra features, customisation, audience tools, and creator-focused controls. The rollout has started globally, although availability is expected to expand in phases across regions.
Plus plans vs Meta Verified
Meta says the new Plus subscriptions will exist separately from Meta Verified, at least for now. That means users paying for verification, impersonation protection, and support through Meta Verified will not automatically receive these new features.

Instagram Plus appears to be the most feature-heavy offering initially. Subscribers will gain access to additional Story insights, including aggregate rewatch counts and searchable viewer lists. Users can also create unlimited Story audience lists beyond Close Friends, extend Stories beyond 24 hours, preview Stories anonymously, and spotlight one Story per week for additional reach.
Other additions include profile customisation tools such as custom fonts, extra profile pins, animated “Super Heart” reactions, and alternate app icons. Users can also post directly to their profile and highlights without pushing those posts into followers’ feeds.
Facebook Plus is expected to offer a similar set of features focused on profile expression and audience controls, while WhatsApp Plus leans more toward personalisation with themes, custom ringtones, premium stickers, additional pinned chats, and expanded list management tools.
Meta is also preparing a wider Meta One subscription umbrella that will include AI-focused plans and professional creator tools. Some of the higher-tier creator plans will eventually include algorithmic promotion tools, expanded analytics, moderation access, and visibility boosts across Facebook and Instagram.
India rollout
Meta hasn’t yet confirmed India pricing or a precise India rollout timeline, but the subscriptions are expected to expand gradually through the apps themselves. Users will see subscription options directly within Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp once available. For casual users, many of these additions may feel optional. But Meta appears to be targeting creators, influencers, small businesses, and heavy social users who already rely on Instagram Stories, audience tracking, and engagement tools regularly.
Platforms like Snapchat Plus have shown there is demand for premium social features, but Meta’s challenge will be convincing users that Story controls and visibility tools are worth another recurring subscription on top of existing streaming, cloud, and AI services. If you are a professional creator or small business heavily reliant on Instagram Stories for engagement and analytics, the advanced insights and reach tools might justify the monthly cost. However, casual users looking for minor customisations should likely wait to see if more compelling features are added, or if the upcoming Meta One bundle offers better overall value.
