iPhone 16 available under Rs 60,000 on Flipkart, but the deal comes with a catch
Flipkart’s Sasa Lele sale, kicking off May 9th with early deals for Plus and Black members, is bringing the usual wave of discounts across premium phones. This time, the iPhone 16 is one of the more noticeable deals, with its price dipping into very lucrative territory for buyers eyeing Apple’s outgoing model.
The iPhone 16, launched in September 2024 at Rs 79,900, is now listed at Rs 62,900 on Flipkart during the sale. That’s a straight drop of Rs 7,000 from its recent retail price of Rs 69,900, and a much larger fall from launch. With the iPhone 17 now in the market, this kind of correction isn’t surprising, but the timing does make the older model more relevant again.

iPhone 16 deal on Flipkart: how it works
The listed price is just the starting point. Flipkart is layering in bank offers, with Axis Bank credit card users getting Rs 5,520 cashback, and SBI card holders around Rs 5,045, which brings the effective price down to Rs 57,380. Exchange deals are also there, which could shave off a bit more depending on what you trade in.
There is a catch though. The offer isn’t available across all pin codes, so availability will vary. That’s worth checking upfront, or you’ll end up being disappointed.
Should you buy the iPhone 16?
On the hardware side, the iPhone 16 doesn’t exactly feel dated, save for the refresh rate. It runs on Apple’s A18 chip, handles everyday performance without friction, and supports Apple Intelligence features. The 6.1-inch OLED display is bright enough outdoors, even if it sticks to a 60Hz refresh rate. The 48MP main camera remains consistent, and the Camera Control button adds a quicker way to adjust shooting settings without digging through menus. Battery life and charging are in line with what you’d expect from a recent iPhone.
The iPhone 17 raised the baseline this year. It adds a 120Hz display, Always-On support, brighter panel, upgraded ultrawide camera, and a newer A19 chip with some gains in battery life. On paper, it’s a more complete device. But it also starts at around Rs 75,900, which is roughly an Rs 18,000 gap.
At under Rs 60,000, the iPhone 16 lands in a different bracket. It’s still a one-year-old iPhone with several years of software support ahead, stable performance, and the usual ecosystem advantages. For someone already using Apple devices, or planning to move into that setup, this pricing makes the entry easier to justify.
Compared to similarly priced Android options, the iPhone 16 doesn’t match the higher refresh rates or some of the newer camera hardware. It does offer consistency though – performance that doesn’t fluctuate, cameras that deliver predictable results, and long-term updates that stretch beyond most Android rivals in this segment.
If you want the newer display and camera upgrades, the iPhone 17 makes sense at its price. If not, the iPhone 16 at this discount feels like a more measured buy, as long as the deal is actually available where you are.
