Apple has taken the wraps off its latest iPhones — the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. For the first time, Apple has changed its iPhone launch strategy, debuting only the Pro models alongside its first-ever foldable, the iPhone Ultra. The standard iPhone 18 did not launch this time and is expected to arrive around March next year alongside the iPhone 18e.
The iPhone Ultra is undoubtedly the biggest highlight of the launch, marking Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone segment. However, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max also bring several upgrades, including new chipsets, refreshed colour options, updated cameras, and more.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900 in India. Both models will be available in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black colour options, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage variants. The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max gets a larger 6.9-inch screen, matching their predecessors. The bigger upgrade comes in the form of new LTPO+ display technology, which is more power-efficient than the LTPO panels used on the iPhone 17 Pro models.
Both models retain the familiar design with a large camera plateau on the rear. Apple has, however, introduced a new set of colour options, including a new Dark Cherry shade that could be one of the more popular choices this year. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also available in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black colour options. Both phones feature colour-matched aluminium and back glass.
One of the more noticeable changes is the Dynamic Island, which is now smaller. It has been upgraded to show three live activities at the same time.
Powering the iPhone 18 Pro series is Apple’s new A20 Pro chipset, built on a 2nm process. The new chip is claimed to deliver up to 20 percent faster performance with the most advanced neural engine for on-device AI processing. The iPhone 18 Pro series is also equipped with a next-generation vapour chamber, which is three times the surface area on the iPhone 17 Pro. It’s also claimed to deliver the highest sustained performance on an iPhone ever.
The iPhone 18 Pro is said to deliver the same battery life as the iPhone 17 Pro Max. As for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, it offers the largest increase in battery life ever on an iPhone. In terms of usage, the iPhone 18 Pro should last up to 24 hours per charge and up to 30 hours on the Pro Max.
Apple has also upgraded the cameras with a new 48MP Fusion Main camera on the iPhone 18 Pro series. The biggest upgrade here is variable aperture, which allows the lens to mechanically open and close to control light, meaning better low-light photos. The iPhone 18 Pro series also comes with new Pro controls that offer better manual control over camera settings.
