iQOO has revealed more details about the display technology coming to its upcoming Neo 12. At an event with Visionox and Tsinghua University on October 14th, the company explained how its new Sky Mirror pTSF OLED material improves light output, power efficiency and display lifespan.
The announcement builds on iQOO’s earlier teasers, which confirmed a 2K OLED panel supplied by Visionox with a 185Hz refresh rate. The Neo 12 will also bring upgrades to gaming performance and cooling over its predecessor, the iQOO Neo 11. It’s set to launch in China in late October.

The Sky Mirror material uses phosphorescence-assisted thermally activated sensitized fluorescence (pTSF), a technology designed to convert electrical energy into visible light more efficiently. It uses a thermally activated delayed fluorescence material to transfer energy to a fluorescent dye, which then emits light.
According to iQOO (via), the new material improves luminous efficiency by 8 percent and global peak brightness by 10 percent, while reducing power consumption by 6.5 percent compared with the previous generation. It also claims a 50 percent increase in display lifespan. Colour shift when viewing the screen from an angle is said to be reduced by 18 percent at 30 degrees and 40 percent at 75 degrees.
The company also claims the Neo 12’s display consumes 27 percent less power than the Neo 11’s screen. This is a separate comparison from the 6.5 percent improvement attributed to the new material, with the overall figure reflecting the display’s broader changes.
The 2K 185Hz panel is another key upgrade over the Neo 11’s 2K 144Hz display. iQOO says the phone will support 2K resolution and 185fps gaming simultaneously, with more than 50 games expected to support native 185fps playback. The display also gets a dedicated high-performance driver chip. For comparison, the OnePlus 16 supports a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate, rising to 185Hz in supported games.
Beyond the display, iQOO has confirmed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with its Q3 e-sports chip and latest Monster super core engine. The phone will also be the first Neo series model to feature the Ice Dome active cooling fan, which uses a redesigned air duct to move air through the device.
The Neo 11, meanwhile, features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a Q2 gaming chip and a dedicated liquid-cooling system. It also has a 7,500mAh battery with 100W wired charging. The Neo 12 is confirmed to pack a larger 9,000mAh battery. However, its charging speed, camera specifications, memory configurations and durability ratings have yet to be announced.
iQOO Neo 12 launch and India availability
iQOO has confirmed that the Neo 12 will launch in China in late October, but hasn’t announced an exact date or price. A report suggests the phone could reach select global markets as the iQOO 16R, while a tipster has indicated that it could launch in India. Neither has been confirmed by the company.
The Neo 12 looks promising for mobile gamers, with its flagship chipset, active cooling, high-refresh-rate display and larger battery. However, Indian buyers should wait for confirmation of its availability and pricing before deciding whether to hold off on the iQOO Neo 10, which remains the latest Neo series model available in the country. Its value will ultimately depend on the final price and how well the display and cooling upgrades translate into sustained gaming performance.
