iQOO Neo12 confirmed with 2K 185Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 9,000mAh battery

Highlights
  • iQOO Neo12 will feature a 2K OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate and Visionox’s new p-TSF technology.
  • The phone will pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, an active cooling fan, and a 9,000mAh battery.
  • The phone is expected to launch in China this month, with a possible global debut as the iQOO 16R.

The iQOO Neo series hasn’t seen a new launch in India since the Neo 10 arrived in 2025, making an upgrade overdue for buyers looking for a performance-focused phone in the segment. However, confirmed details of the upcoming iQOO Neo12 have now emerged in China, with the company confirming a new high-refresh-rate display, a flagship Snapdragon chipset, and a larger battery ahead of its launch later this month.

iQOO Neo12 specifications

iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO Neo12 will feature a 2K OLED display supplied by Chinese manufacturer Visionox, with a 185Hz refresh rate. The company has also shared teaser images offering an early look at the phone’s display and rear design. The display teaser shows a flat panel with slim, uniform bezels and a punch-hole selfie camera, and highlights the collaboration between Visionox, iQOO, and Tsinghua University on display technology. iQOO will reveal more details at an event on October 14th.

Visionox’s panel uses p-TSF luminescent technology, designed to improve colour reproduction, reduce power consumption, and extend display lifespan. Tipster Digital Chat Station has previously said the Neo12 will be the first smartphone to use Visionox’s fourth-generation p-TSF material, which hasn’t appeared on any flagship phones that have been launching since September this year.

The other teaser uses a red-and-black design, with the phone partially concealed beneath textured red fabric. It reveals part of a black rear camera module with a large circular camera element and a vent-like element. The teaser has the text “Monster Inside” indicating heavy performance.

Under the hood, the Neo12 will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, iQOO’s in-house Q3 gaming chip, and a new Ice-Dome cooling system with an active fan. It will also pack a 9,000mAh battery, up from the 7,500mAh unit in the iQOO Neo11.

For context, the Neo11 features a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a Q2 gaming chip paired with a dedicated liquid-cooling system. The Neo12’s confirmed specifications suggest improvements in refresh rate, processing power, cooling hardware, and battery capacity. Camera specifications, charging speeds, memory options, and durability ratings are yet to be announced.

The 185Hz refresh rate is a huge upgrade for sure, but we don’t know whether it will be available system-wide or limited to supported games. iQOO has confirmed the display specification, but the announcements do not clarify how the refresh rate will work across apps and games. OnePlus debuted the OnePlus 16 with a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate going up to 185Hz for specific titles, so the iQOO Neo12 might compete with that.

Launch and India availability

iQOO hasn’t confirmed the Neo12’s exact launch date, but the phone is already available for pre-order in China. More details are expected in the coming weeks. According to a report, the smartphone could reach select global markets as the iQOO 16R with the same specifications. A Geekbench listing reportedly associated with the device suggests 16GB of RAM, Android 17-based OriginOS 7, and an Adreno 840 GPU. These details remain unconfirmed by iQOO.

India availability is also less certain though a tipster recently said the phone will arrive in the country. The iQOO Neo11 did not launch here, leaving the Neo10, which debuted in 2025, as the latest model in the Indian Neo lineup. The phone starts below Rs 45,000 and has since received new colour options and price increases.

With the Neo10 now more than a year old, the Neo12 could be a deserved upgrade if iQOO brings it to India. Its combination of a flagship chipset, active cooling, a 185Hz display, and a 9,000mAh battery could appeal to mobile gamers. However, buyers should wait for confirmation of an Indian launch.
