Lava has launched the Shark 2 5G in India in the budget 5G segment. The Shark 2 5G follows the Lava Shark 4G launched in March and the Shark 5G announced in May. The company seems to be trying to build an entire Shark lineup in the under-Rs 15,000 category where Redmi, POCO, Realme, Motorola, Infinix, and Tecno remain extremely aggressive.

Price and availability

The Lava Shark 2 5G comes in a single 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, priced at Rs 11,999. It’s available in Sonar Gold and Arya Blue colour options and will go on sale in India starting June 10th through offline retail stores.

Lava is also continuing its “Free Service @ Home” programme with the phone. For buyers in smaller cities and towns, reliable after-sales support can end up mattering far more over the life of the phone.

Specifications

The Lava Shark 2 5G is powered by the Unisoc T8200 chipset built on a 6nm process. Lava says the processor crosses 500,000 points on AnTuTu v11, which should translate into fairly comfortable day-to-day performance for regular users. Social media, streaming, multitasking, navigation, and casual gaming should all be manageable without major issues.

The phone comes in a single 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, along with support for up to 4GB virtual RAM and expandable storage up to 1TB through a microSD card. On the front is a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Budget phones have started adopting high refresh rate displays quite aggressively over the past couple of years, and while the panel here is still HD+, smoother scrolling and animations do make these devices feel noticeably less sluggish during everyday use.

Battery life is clearly one of the main priorities. The Shark 2 packs a 6,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging. The slightly odd part is that Lava only includes a 10W charger inside the box, so charging speeds may feel slower compared to some competing devices.

One area where Lava still manages to stand apart a bit is software. The Shark 2 runs clean Android 16 with no ads or pre-installed apps. That sounds like a small thing until you use enough budget phones overloaded with notifications, duplicate apps, and promotional pop-ups. Other features include IP64 dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Shark 2 looks less like a performance-first device and more like a practical everyday smartphone. Instead of chasing the fastest charging speeds or gaming-heavy branding, the company is leaning into clean software, dependable battery life, basic durability, and easier after-sales support.
