The Motorola Edge 70 Max has officially launched in India, marking the brand’s entry into a new segment. As the flagship model in the Edge 70 series, it offers much more than just a premium lifestyle experience. The Edge 70 Max places a strong emphasis on performance, powered by the sub-flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC and an ArcticMesh cooling system. It also features a flat-edge design that helps prevent the accidental touches commonly associated with curved displays during gaming. Other key specifications include support for 120fps gaming, a 144Hz QHD+ display, a 7,100mAh battery, 90W wired charging, and 25W Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging. On paper, the Motorola Edge 70 Max appears to be one of the most feature-packed smartphones in its segment.
Table of Contents
The Motorola Edge 70 Max costs Rs 54,999 for the 8GB RAM option, while the 12GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 59,999. This puts it in the same league as the iQOO 15R (review) and OnePlus 15R (review), which are also performance-focused smartphones. The Motorola Edge 70 Max clearly has an edge over these offerings with a feature-packed specs sheet, making it a compelling buy.
The Motorola smartphone comes in three Pantone-certified colour options: Aqua Grey, Dark Shadow, and Ice Melt. The Edge 70 Max will be available for purchase via Flipkart from July 20th, and as part of launch offers, it can be purchased for as low as Rs 49,999.
| Variant | Price |
| 8GB + 256GB | Rs 54,999 |
| 12GB + 256GB | Rs 59,999 |
The Motorola Edge 70 Max ships with an aluminium frame sandwiched between Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The handset is IP68 water- and dust-resistant certified, as well as boasts MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability, protecting it from minor drops and falls. The fascia packs a centred punch-hole 6.8-inch ‘Extreme’ 10-bit AMOLED flat display with the segment’s first Quad HD+ resolution and 7,000 nits peak brightness.
The display also bears a flagship 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, water touch, Always-on, and razor-thin bezels. Apart from ensuring an impressive viewing experience, the Edge 70 Max also takes care of audio with dual stereo speakers backed by Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio.
At the heart of the Motorola Edge 70 Max is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. It is the same chipset found in Motorola’s Signature series, as well as rival smartphones such as the OnePlus 15R and iQOO 15R. It is a capable processor that handles everything from everyday tasks and demanding games to on-device AI processing with ease.
To keep temperatures under control, the Edge 70 Max is equipped with Motorola’s ArcticMesh cooling system, which incorporates a large 5,500mm vapour chamber. It certainly has a point to prove, considering Motorola smartphones have not traditionally been known for their thermal efficiency. The Edge 70 Max is designed to deliver 120 fps gaming support for popular titles such as BGMI and COD: Mobile.
The smartphone houses a massive 7,100mAh battery, which is pretty standard for the price segment, paired with 90W wired charging. However, what isn’t standard is the Qi 2.2 magnetic wireless charging on the Edge 70 Max. This makes it only the second Android smartphone after the Pixel to offer the feature in India. The phone supports 25W magnetic wireless charging and iPhone-like MagSafe accessories.
The optics of the Motorola Edge 70 Max feel a bit modest with just a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP OIS Sony Lytia 710 primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. There is no telephoto lens for portraits and close-up shots. For selfies and video calling, the handset features a 32MP sensor.
Binding everything together is Motorola’s Hello UI, layered atop Android 16. The handset also gets plenty of moto AI features, which we have seen on other Motorola devices launched recently. That said, the Edge 70 Max’s 3 years of major OS and 5 years of security updates software support feels limited against the competitors, which are now offering 4+6.
