Motorola Edge 70 Max appears on WPC certification, confirms name, 25W wireless charging
Motorola’s rumoured Edge 70 Max has made its first official appearance, with the smartphone surfacing on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification database. While certification listings often reveal only limited details, this one is significant as it officially confirms both the Motorola Edge 70 Max branding and the phone’s existence ahead of launch.

The WPC listing confirms 25W wireless charging support for the Edge 70 Max, making it one of Motorola’s fastest wireless charging implementations in the Edge lineup. More importantly, the WPC certification includes renders of the smartphone, which show a curved screen, different from the flat design that leaked earlier this month.

The previously leaked renders had revealed one of the biggest design changes Motorola has made to its Edge lineup in years. Unlike previous Edge smartphones, which largely relied on curved displays (except for select Neo models), the Edge 70 Max adopts a completely flat display paired with flat aluminium-style frames. A flat display would mean improved grip and fewer accidental touches compared to curved screens.
But based on this certification, it appears that Motorola might continue with a curved screen for the Edge 70 Max. The camera design is also slightly different on both phones.
The smartphone is tipped to launch in Onyx Black, Sage Green, and Glacier Blue colour options, which will most likely be Pantone certified. Previously leaked marketing materials also suggest the Edge 70 Max will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. If accurate, that would place it alongside Motorola’s most premium phone yet, the Motorola Signature, since it uses the same processor. The leaked renders also confirm a triple-camera setup, possibly of a main camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens.
The Edge 70 Max is particularly noteworthy because it is the first ‘Max’ branded smartphone in Motorola’s Edge series, expanding a lineup that already includes the Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro, and Edge 70 Pro+. Based on everything revealed so far, the Max variant is shaping up to be the most premium and powerful model in the series. The Motorola Edge 70 Max could be a good option for those who want a performance-focused phone that doesn’t compromise on design or cameras.
