Nothing Phone 4a Pro launch nears, spotted on EU database with battery and IP upgrades

The Nothing Phone 4a Pro has appeared on the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL), offering an early look at some of its key hardware details. Nothing has not officially confirmed the phone yet, but a listing on a regulatory database usually points to a launch that isn’t too far away.

According to the EPREL entry, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro will pack a 5,080mAh battery with support for 50W wired charging. That’s a small increase over the 5,000mAh battery on the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, which also supported 50W charging. In practical terms, this suggests continuity rather than a big upgrade, which is disappointing considering several competing phones are moving to much larger batteries or faster charging speeds.

The better news is in the battery lifespan information. The Phone 4a Pro is rated to retain 80 percent of its battery capacity after 1,400 charge cycles, pointing to a focus on long-term use. The listing also confirms that Nothing will provide operating system security, corrective, and functionality updates for at least five years, keeping the phone relevant longer.

Durability details are also revealed via the listing. The Nothing Phone 4a Pro is listed with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, which is a slight improvement over the IP64 rating on the Phone 3a Pro. While it’s still not fully waterproof, it does offer better protection against water exposure than the previous model. The phone carries a ‘C’ repairability score on a scale of A to E, suggesting average ease of repair rather than a device designed with repairability as a major focus.

For reference, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro launched in India in March last year at Rs 27,999. It stood out mainly for its camera setup, which included a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The Phone 4a Pro is expected to replace it with internal upgrades, including a Snapdragon 7 series chipset, likely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, along with 12GB RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Phone 4a Pro is rumoured to cost around USD 540, or roughly Rs 49,000, for the 12GB + 256GB variant. At that price, it would compete with phones that offer faster charging, larger batteries, or more performance-focused hardware. Based on what’s known so far, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro looks like a steady update with strengths in long-term software support and battery health. Whether that’s enough will depend largely on final pricing and how much value buyers place on Nothing’s design and clean software approach.
