OnePlus 15R price in India hiked by Rs 2,500: here’s how much it costs now

Highlights
  • OnePlus 15R launched in India last December.
  • It debuted at a starting price of Rs 47,999.
  • The smartphone is now costlier by Rs 2,500.

Price hikes shouldn’t sound surprising anymore, as we’re seeing them in all the new phones and even existing ones. The reason behind this comes from the surging prices of components, leading to OEMs having to compensate with increased prices. Now, the OnePlus 15R has also seen a price hike of Rs 2,500. It was earlier rumoured that the 15R’s price would be increased by Rs 4,000 in March, but that never happened. This time it’s no rumour as OnePlus has updated its website and other platforms with the new pricing.

OnePlus 15R (review) launched in India at a starting price of Rs 47,999 for the base 12GB + 512GB variant. This one now costs Rs 50,499 after the price hike. Similarly, the OnePlus 15R 12GB + 512GB variant, which was priced at Rs 52,999 earlier, is now available at Rs 55,499.

Here’s a table for better understanding.

VariantOld priceNew price
12GB + 256GBRs 47,999Rs 50,499
12GB + 512GBRs 52,999Rs 55,499

This appears to be another strategy that some brands are following with new or recent launches. Some of these phones are seeing price hikes just days or weeks after their launch. For context, the Vivo T5x launched in India on March 17th, but it soon received a price hike of Rs 2,000. This suggests that the original pricing for the OnePlus 15R may have been introductory or margin-sensitive. And based on the current market scenario, OnePlus may have decided to make changes.

Although costlier now, the OnePlus 15R is still among the most powerful phones in the segment, especially for gaming. Here’s what’s on offer with the OnePlus 15R:

  • 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display, 165Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
  • 7,400mAh battery, 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support.
  • 50MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide; 32MP front camera.
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC.
  • OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16.
  • IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings.

The OnePlus 15R’s hardware speaks for itself when it comes to performance and endurance. The 165Hz flat display makes it a top contender for gaming, even offering 165FPS for select titles. The smartphone also has a large 7,400mAh battery for extensive gaming sessions and 80W fast charging for quick top-ups. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 also sits just below the flagship 8 Elite Gen 5, but offers top-notch performance. The OnePlus 15R also has IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, making it highly durable against dust and water. Where the 15R doesn’t really excel is in cameras due to the lack of versatility. It’s still good for casual photography.

At its new price, the OnePlus 15R is still a good purchase, especially if you want a performance-focused phone without stretching your budget too much. However, if your priorities include cameras, then you may want to check out other options. There’s the iQOO 15R with the same chipset and similar specs, but at a lower price of Rs 44,999.
