At possibly the biggest OnePlus event this year with public attendance, the OnePlus 15R and OnePlus Pad Go 2 made their debut in India. OnePlus 15R is the first phone to launch with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The OnePlus Pad Go 2, on the other hand, is a successor to the OnePlus Pad Go, which was launched in October 2023. The new tablet features a larger and brighter display, a bigger battery, a faster chipset, and a refreshed design. OnePlus Pad Go 2 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 26,999.
The new OnePlus tablet features a 12.1-inch 2.8K (2800 x 1980 pixels) LCD display with 900 nits peak brightness in HBM, TÜV Rheinland Smart Care 4.0 protection, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It offers a 7:5 ReadFit aspect ratio, which gives 14 percent more active area than a traditional 16:10 display. This results in a more natural, book-like layout for reading and a wider view for reading documents and web browsing. The tablet also houses a quad-speaker system paired with OnePlus Omnibearing Sound Field technology.
Powering the OnePlus Pad Go 2 is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. This is a capable mid-range chipset offering strong performance for gaming and everyday tasks. We’ll be reviewing the tablet and testing its performance, so stay tuned for that. The tablet is backed by a 10,050mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging, and reverse charging at 6.5W. This setup is quite standard for this price segment.
With the OnePlus Pad Go 2, you get an 8MP front and 8MP rear camera, which remains unchanged from the Pad Go. The tablet comes with the OnePlus Pad Go 2 Stylo, which you’ll have to buy separately. The Stylo is said to deliver a natural feel of a pen and paper into the digital world with low latency and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. It’s claimed to last for up to 20 hours and supports quick charging, with 10 minutes of top-up enough for up to 12 hours of battery life.
There are various features for the OnePlus Pad Go 2 Stylo, such as Advanced Handwriting Recognition that converts your handwritten notes into clear, editable digital text. Then there’s Handwriting Enhancement that beautifies your writing as you take notes, and Handwriting Calculator lets you solve complex equations directly by writing them out.
OnePlus Pad Go 2 launches with OxygenOS 16 out of the box. This is the latest software version for OnePlus devices. The tablet comes with AI features such as AI Writer, Recorder, AI Editor, AI Translate & Summary, Gemini, and Circle to Search. You also get AI Speaker, a feature that reads on-screen content aloud with adjustable playback speed and voice
gender selection. It also features Open Canvas for multitasking with support for up to two apps in split-screen mode alongside one floating window.
The new OnePlus tablet is available in Shadow Black and Lavender Drift colour options, features a slim 6.83mm design, and weighs 600g. It is priced at Rs 26,999 for the 8GB + 128GB Wi-Fi variant, Rs 29,999 for the 8GB + 256GB Wi-Fi variant, and Rs 32,999 for the 8GB + 256GB 5G model. OnePlus is offering a limited-time discount of Rs 1,000 and an instant bank discount of Rs 2,000 on the tablet. It’s going on sale on December 18th, and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 Stylo, worth Rs 3,999, will be available for free as an introductory offer.
With the Pad Go 2, OnePlus now has a presence in the mid-range segment. It already offers the budget OnePlus Pad Lite priced at Rs 15,999, and the flagship OnePlus Pad 3 at Rs 47,999. Now, the Pad Go 2 sits in between, offering a choice for buyers who want a premium experience but without spending a lot.
While we are yet to review the OnePlus Pad Go 2, it already looks like a solid option for buyers seeking a budget tablet that offers capable hardware in a premium-looking design. You can still wait for reviews and see how it compares to alternatives like the Redmi Pad 2, which is also priced around the same.
