[Update] OnePlus pauses rollout of latest OxygenOS 16 update over reboot issues
Update: OnePlus has pushed out a new Community post, which states that the rollout of 16.0.7.XXX and 16.0.5.XXX firmware versions have been resumed. The post mentions “During internal rollout monitoring, our teams identified abnormal behaviour related to one of the builds that was not pushed externally to users. As a preventive measure, we proactively paused the rollout while a full investigation and validation process was completed, as we take device stability and user experience extremely seriously.”

Known for releasing software updates on a monthly and bi-monthly basis, OnePlus has officially suspended the rollout of the latest updates for several devices. Announced on the OnePlus Community through a blog post, the Head of the OxygenOS Operations team has stated that the company has paused the release of 16.0.7.XXX and 16.0.5.XXX updates citing “abnormal restart and boot issues”. In the meantime, OnePlus’s engineering team is investigating the root cause of the issue.

What caused OnePlus to pause the update rollout
OnePlus paused the OxygenOS 16 updates with the version number 16.0.7.XXX and 16.0.5.XXX due to reports of abnormal restarts and boot loop issues affecting a small number of users. Even though it has impacted only a small percentage of users, OnePlus chose to pause the broader rollout as a precaution. The company is prioritising the investigation and plans to resume the update once the builds are validated for stability and reliability. No specific timeline has been given.
The devices that have been affected include the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Nord 5, OnePlus Nord CE 5, and several other models. While the OxygenOS 16.0.5.XXX update started rolling several weeks back, the OxygenOS 16 16.0.7.XXX build is the latest firmware that was just recently released for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13 series.
For those uninitiated, the OxygenOS 16.0.7.XXX build is the same major update that brought Live Space, homescreen organiser, and several other new additions, which we’ve already covered previously. Upon digging through the OnePlus Community, we found that a OnePlus 15 user who updated to OxygenOS 16.0.5.703 reported that his phone randomly rebooted while sitting idle after a gaming session. The issue occurred only once and has not happened since.
Should you update your OnePlus phone to the latest update?
While we’ve already updated our OnePlus 15 to OxygenOS 16 with the CPH2745_16.0.7_201 build, we strongly recommend not updating, even if it’s available on the Updates page. As for us, we have not witnessed any random or abnormal reboot issues, at least yet. On the other hand, we did receive the OxygenOS 16 CPH2573_16.0.5.702(EX01B60P01) for the OnePlus 12 last week, but didn’t manage to update it. Upon checking the updates page today, the OTA update no longer shows up, indicating that OnePlus has indeed halted the rollout.
OnePlus pulling back the update is a standard route manufacturers resort to when stability problems surface in a software push.
