Shortly after their prices were revealed, the OPPO Reno 16 series’ battery details for the European market surfaced online. Three upcoming OPPO smartphones carrying model numbers linked to the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16F have surfaced on the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) database. The listings reveal key details about the Reno 16 lineup’s battery capacities and how they may differ from the Chinese models.
The certification listing reveals rated battery capacities of 5,820mAh for the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, while the Reno 16F is tipped to feature a larger 6,325mAh unit. The figures mark a significant departure from the Chinese variants unveiled in May. In China, the Reno 16 Pro ships with a large 7,000mAh battery, while the standard Reno 16 packs a 6,700mAh cell. If the certification details prove accurate, global models could lose more than 1,000mAh of battery capacity.
Despite the smaller batteries, the devices have received an Energy Class A rating and are expected to offer IP68-rated dust and water resistance. Battery endurance figures listed on the certification platform suggest the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro can deliver around 62-63 hours per charge cycle, while the Reno 16F stretches that figure to 75 hours.
The global Reno 16 Pro may also differ in performance. Recent benchmark sightings suggest it could utilize a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset instead of the more powerful Dimensity 9500-series processor found in its Chinese counterpart. It’s not surprising for OPPO to change the specs for the global variants, as we’ve seen with the Reno 15 series. If pricing stays as expected, then the Reno 16 series could still be a good contender in the segment.
However, with rivals increasingly pushing 7,000mAh-plus batteries in the premium mid-range segment, the Reno 16 series may face tougher competition internationally than it does in its home market. Potential buyers prioritising maximum battery life might want to wait for full reviews comparing real-world endurance, especially given the smaller capacity compared to Chinese models and rivals. Like its predecessor, the Reno 16 series is also expected to stand out as a compact option offering capable performance, versatile cameras, and a sizeable battery. It would still be wise to compare the upgrades with the Reno 15 series, which is still fairly new in the market.
