OPPO is gearing up for a major launch of its popular Reno series in India, and the biggest clues now come from China, where the Reno15c has been detailed in a listing. This model is expected to arrive in India as the OPPO Reno15, giving us a clear idea of what to expect and how it compares to the Reno14. OPPO’s Reno series sits in the premium mid-range segment with a primary focus on design and cameras.
The most noticeable shift is under the hood. OPPO is reportedly dropping the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 used in the Reno14 and switching to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. On paper, this might not seem like a major performance leap, but the move to Qualcomm could offer better thermal control and more consistent GPU output. OPPO’s Reno series hasn’t been a performance-focused lineup, but the switch could mean a smoother Reno15, especially for gaming and running intensive apps.
The display continues to be the same with a 6.59-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Visually, this should look and feel very similar to the Reno14, and the Reno15 is also expected to feature an aluminium alloy frame and most likely the same dust and water resistance up to an IP69 rating, like the Reno14.
Cameras are also largely the same, with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 50MP telephoto lens with up to 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP selfie camera up front. There could be an upgrade in terms of sensors, but a similar setup might not be bad, as the Reno14 has already proven its excellent camera performance.
Battery life should also see a significant boost. The Reno15 is said to pack a massive 6,500mAh battery, far larger than the Reno14’s 5,000mAh unit, while retaining 80W fast charging. This combination almost guarantees noticeably longer endurance, potentially stretching to more than a day for moderate users. With most brands now offering a 7,000mAh battery, it makes sense for OPPO to boost the Reno15’s battery capacity, and would also keep it on par with rivals.
Storage options for the Reno15c in China include 12GB RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage, and India is expected to follow the same configuration. The phone is tipped to launch with ColorOS 16 out of the box. Colour options in China include Aurora Blue, College Blue, and Starlight Bow, though OPPO often tweaks the palette for the Indian market.
So, should you wait for the Reno15? For most users, yes. If speculations remain true, then the Reno15 will fill up the gaps where the Reno14 lacked, especially in terms of performance with an upgraded chipset and a bigger battery. This would make the Reno15 a well-rounded premium mid-range phone.
