The POVA 8 Pro is confirmed to launch in India on August 18th, and the company has teased the handset’s design. Teaser images reveal an ‘Alive Matrix Display’ on the rear panel, a feature similar to the Glyph Interface found on the Nothing Phone (3) and the Infinix Note 60 Pro. The brand says the phone has been designed around its “Room Notices” philosophy to create a smartphone that stands out the moment it enters a room.

The Alive Matrix Display adds an interactive element to the back of the POVA 8 Pro. It employs Mini LED technology with 177 independently controlled LED beads that create a dynamic “Breathing Light” effect. The lighting responds to more than 49 scenarios, including incoming calls, notifications, charging, gaming, music playback, file transfers, and other system events.

This is based on details available for the POVA 8 Pro’s global variant

POVA 8 Pro specifications

Since the smartphone is already listed on the company’s global website, we have a clear picture of what to expect. The global variant is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, a 4nm mid-range processor. It runs Android 16-based HiOS 16 out of the box.

On the front, the POVA 8 Pro features a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4,500 nits peak brightness. For photography, the POVA 8 Pro includes a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 13MP front-facing camera. The handset also packs a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support.

Globally, the handset is available in Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green colour options.

With the POVA 8 Pro, the brand appears to be doubling down on the design aspect without compromising on core specifications. If the POVA 8 Pro enables useful customisation for notifications, charging animations, or gaming effects, the feature could help the handset stand out in an increasingly crowded market. The Alive Matrix Display can be a clever differentiator in a sea of similar-looking phones. However, buyers may want to wait for the India launch to learn the official pricing and the specifications of the POVA 8 Pro.
