The Redmi 15 5G is set to launch soon in India, as indicated by a new teaser on Amazon. The e-commerce microsite hints at a significant battery upgrade over the Redmi 13 5G and the Redmi 14C 5G. A recent leak suggests the phone will feature a 7,000mAh battery, providing a clearer picture of the magnitude of this upgrade. The same leak also suggests a potential global price of RM699 (around Rs 14,000). Let’s compare this phone to its competitors.
The Amazon teaser states that even at 1% battery, the phone can offer a standby time of 7.5 hours. That would be 750 hours or 31 days and 6 hours from a 100 percent battery. Remember, the leaked battery size of Redmi 15 5G is 7,000mAh. Meanwhile, the Redmi 14C 5G, equipped with a 5,160mAh cell, is quoted to offer 21 days of standby time. Redmi hasn’t disclosed the standby time of Redmi 13 5G’s 5,030mAh battery. Still, considering the smaller battery size, we figure the standby time could be shorter.
In practical terms, this kind of battery life can mean fewer charging cycles and better longevity, especially for users who aren’t always near a charger or who rely on power banks less frequently. If it launches with this spec sheet, the Redmi 15 5G could raise the bar for battery capacity in the Rs 10,000–15,000 space, where most rivals still offer around 6,000mAh cells, such as the Tecno POVA 7, OPPO K13x, and iQOO Z10x.

For reference, here’s an AnTuTu benchmark graph of the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3-powered Moto G85 against the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2-powered Redmi 14C 5G and Redmi 13 5G:

The leaked specifications also suggest that the Redmi 15 5G could feature a full-HD resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate screen. This combination, on paper, could make using the screen a more fluid experience compared to the Redmi 14C and Redmi 13 5G’s 120Hz panels.
Among other things, the Redmi 15 is expected to have a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor, more RAM and double the storage space, Android 15 out of the box with a more feature-rich and optimised HyperOS 2.0 skin, and a higher IP64 rating for more confidence against dust and water ingress in everyday use.
As mentioned earlier, all this could be available for RM699 (approximately Rs 14,000) for the 8GB+256GB model in global markets. There may be lower memory configurations at launch. We should have details about the India launch and availability soon.
Redmi’s move shows how Xiaomi is doubling down on battery as a key differentiator in the budget 5G segment, hoping to lock in users who value endurance over everything else. If Redmi can price this under Rs 14,000 in India, the Redmi 15 5G could leapfrog the competition by offering a better battery, display, and storage than most phones in this segment. Unless you urgently need a budget phone right now, it might be worth holding off until this launches.
