Redmi has announced the launch of a new smartphone. The Redmi 15A 5G is scheduled to arrive in India on March 27th. It’s the third phone from the Redmi 15 lineup, and also the first ‘A’ model. The Redmi 15A is being teased as ‘The Real Hero’ with a large display and battery, AI camera, strong durability, and more. The smartphone is expected to sit in the budget segment, but it’s not clear where exactly Redmi plans to position it among the Redmi 15 and Redmi 15C.
According to official teasers of the Redmi 15A, the smartphone looks quite like the Redmi 15C, with a dual-camera setup on the top-left corner, rounded edges, and a flat display. The smartphone will be available in three colours: black, light blue, and lavender. Redmi 15C is teased to offer the largest and smoothest display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its siblings, Redmi 15 and Redmi 15C, already have a large 6.9-inch display, so the 15A will most likely offer the same. This would make the phone a good option for consuming content and gaming.
The Redmi 15A is also confirmed to pack a 6,300mAh battery, which should be reliable enough for more than a day’s usage. More details revealed include an octa-core 5G chipset, dual AI camera, and water resistance. Since there’s more to be unpacked about the Redmi 15A, we’re yet to get a clearer picture of the handset. But with only three days to go for the launch, we should know very soon.
The Redmi 15 and Redmi 15C stand out for their large display, reliable battery life, and decent hardware for everyday use. The Redmi 15A is expected to continue with that philosophy, and possibly in the budget segment under Rs 20,000. Since it’s the first A model in the lineup, it could be targeting a specific segment of the budget market. So, if your priorities include a large display and battery in a budget phone, then the Redmi 15A might be worth waiting for. The Redmi 15A could also be launched as a budget-friendly 5G handset, so it might be well-suited for users updating from an old smartphone or a 4G phone. Brands have been aggressively pushing 5G phones in the budget phone segment, and it’s no longer difficult to get a 5G phone under Rs 10,000 in India.
In addition to the Redmi 15A, a new red colour variant for the Redmi Note 15 series. The teaser image shows a glimpse of the phone, which is flaunting a deep red colour with a gold-coloured frame. This new colour variant will most likely be introduced on the same day as the Redmi 15A launch. It could serve as another option for those looking for a new or refreshing colour in the Redmi Note 15 lineup.
