Redmi Note 13 Pro+ vs OnePlus Nord 3 5G performance comparison: which phone is more powerful?

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (review) launched in India last week with a lot of fanfare. It is the first Redmi Note phone to incorporate many firsts, including Gorilla Glass Victus, IP68 rating, in-display fingerprint scanner, and Dimensity 7200 Ultra SoC. However, new features come with an increased price, therefore pitting it against some notable players in the sub-Rs 35K segment.

It also means the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ now fares against the OnePlus Nord 3 5G (review), one of the most notable all-rounders in this price bracket. How do the two fare against each other in terms of pure benchmark? Here’s a performance comparison between the two smartphones.

Geekbench v6

Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (L) and OnePlus Nord 3 (R) Geekbench scores.

In the Geekbench test, which is essentially a stress test on the chip cores, both smartphones achieve similar scores in the single-core test. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ performs relatively better on the single-core Geekbench test. However, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G scores much higher points in the multi-core test. It indicates that the two smartphones can run a single app or low-demanding task similarly, though the overall efficiency might be better on the Nord 3 5G.

AnTuTu

Similarly, in the AnTuTu test that evaluates almost all parameters of the CPU and GPU processing power, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is behind the OnePlus Nord 3 5G.

Interestingly, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ consumed less battery than the Nord 3 during the stress test. However, the internal temperature of the Note 13 Pro+ was higher than that of the Nord 3.

CPU Throttle test

Redmi Note 13 Pro+’s increased temperature in the AnTuTu test does not mean the smartphone’s cooling tech isn’t efficient. Even under severe pressure, the Note 13 Pro+ turned out to be relatively more stable in the CPU Throttle test (50 threads + 30 minutes of duration) than the OnePlus Nord 3 5G.

Gaming tests

While benchmarks lean towards the OnePlus Nord 3 5G’s superiority with the Dimensity 9000 SoC, real-life gaming tests provide a different picture.

I played eight popular Android games on both for 10 minutes each. Low-demanding games, including Candy Crush, Subway Surf, and Clash of Clans, ran smoothly without any stutters. Both phones exhibited a similar battery drop and increased internal temperature.

I noticed similar metrics after playing 8 Ball Mini Pool, Asphalt 9, and Shadow Fight 4.

Both Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and OnePlus Nord 3 5G can also run BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile with similar graphics (Nord 3 5G supports smooth gameplay at 90fps). The Nord 3 5G consumed more battery but that resulted in a more consistent performance with high FPS. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ also performed well, but the frame rates were inconsistent.

Verdict

Overall, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G exhibited better performance in both benchmarks and real-life tests, though the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ emerged slightly more power efficient. In the end, it is a battle between power and efficiency. Other factors you must remember when buying either of the two smartphones include:

  • The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and OnePlus Nord 3 5G will receive three years of Android OS updates.
  • The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ includes more pre-installed apps. As a result, its software experience is cluttered.
  • That being said, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has more features to offer, including an IR remote control. The Android 13-based MIUI also bundles additional features to explore, like Reading mode and so on.
