Daylight HDR

The daylight shots captured from the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Realme 11 Pro+’s 200MP main camera output 12.5MP images by default. There is quite a bit of difference in the performance of the two sensors. The Realme 11 Pro+ tends to produce results with slightly warmer tones and oversaturated colours. However, it appears to excel over the Redmi smartphone in light management, resulting in sharper images.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+, on the other hand, offers superior colour saturation and exposure to details. However, it seems to grapple with light management, leading to haziness in the images. I’m assuming this to be a software issue, which can be fixed via a software update. We didn’t face a similar problem in low light.

Winner: Realme 11 Pro+

Ultra-wide

Ultrawides look the pretty much same on both devices, but with the finest margins, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ wins this round. The handset’s 8MP sensor exhibits superior detailing across the frame. In contrast, the results from the Realme 11 Pro+ appear a bit grainy, even in well-lit areas.

Winner: Redmi Note 13 Pro+

Portrait

With portraits, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ seems to be doing a better job with near-accurate edge detection than the Realme 11 Pro+. There is a noticeable warping around the edges of the subject on the latter. The Redmi smartphone portrait mode is much better at separating the background from the foreground.

Winner: Redmi Note 13 Pro+

Macro

The Realme 11 Pro+ delivers arguably better macro shots than its counterpart in daylight. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ macro camera struggles to focus on the subject, resulting in a loss of details and sharpness. The Realme 11 Pro+, on the other hand, macro sensor locks in on the subject nicely and outputs relatively better images. The colours might appear slightly oversaturated though.

Winner: Realme 11 Pro+

Selfies

Capturing shots with the 16MP front camera on the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ results in slightly reddish selfies, lending them an appealing quality compared to the Realme smartphone. However, the higher 32MP sensor on the 11 Pro+ brings out more facial detailing, albeit with somewhat pale colours. Although both cameras could benefit from improvement, for sheer appeal, I give this round to the Redmi smartphone.

Winner: Redmi Note 13 Pro+

Low light

The larger aperture lens on the main camera also appears to benefit the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ in low-light photography. Upon reviewing the results above, the Redmi image appears brighter and more detailed than its counterpart. Additionally, there is minimal light flare and relatively low graininess in the image captured by the Redmi Note 13 Pro+.

Winner: Redmi Note 13 Pro+

Night mode

With night mode enabled, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ outperforms the Realme smartphone. The 11 Pro+ struggles to control light flare, compromising sharpness and details that are readily visible on its counterpart. The results from the Redmi smartphone are more pleasing, and detailed, and exhibit less graininess.

Winner: Redmi Note 13 Pro+

Verdict

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Realme 11 Pro+ both have their strengths and weaknesses in different camera modes. The Realme 11 Pro+ fares better in well-lit environments and macro as compared to the Redmi smartphone. However, the Realme device produces images with warmer tones and performs underwhelmingly in low light. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+, in contrast, shines with its low-light performance, portraits, selfies, and ultra-wide shots.

Hence, the choice between the two depends on individual preferences and priorities in camera performance.
