Redmi Note 15 launched in India with 108MP camera, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, curved AMOLED display, and more

The Redmi Note 15 has made its debut in two storage options: Rs 22,999 for the 8+128GB variant and Rs 24,999 for the 8+256GB option. As part of the early bird launch offers, interested buyers can avail an instant discount of Rs 3,000 using Axis Bank, SBI, and ICICI Bank credit cards and EMI transactions, while Xiaomi Easy Finance will offer the device at 0 percent down payment up to eight months. The handset will be officially available to purchase starting January 9th on Amazon, Mi.com, and Xiaomi offline stores.

Big emphasis on sleek build

3D curved display arrives on a base Redmi Note

The Redmi Note 15 gets 6.77-inches FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 3,200 nits of peak brightness, and even support Hydro Touch 2.0 to register wet finger touches. The entire phone is also IP66 rated for protection against water splashes and dust exposure. For an immersive viewing experience, the Note 15 features Dolby Atmos-supported dual speakers, one on top and another towards the bottom.

A high megapixel primary camera

The cameras are another major highlight of the Redmi Note 15. The squircle camera module houses an OIS-supported 108MP primary camera, which is the Samsung HM9 sensor, making its debut on a smartphone for the first time. Users can capture wide perspective shots with the 8MP ultrawide lens, while the selfies are taken care of by a 20MP camera.

Slight performance gains with long-supported software

Running at the core of the Redmi Note 15 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. This is the same chipset found on the Samsung Galaxy A36, which offered single-core and multi-core scores of 1,023 and 2,690 on Geekbench, respectively. While these numbers are better than the Redmi Note 14’s Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, it remains to be seen how the handset will fare against more powerful rivals featuring the Dimensity 8350 or Dimensity 7400.

The phone runs on the Android 15-based HyperOS 2 software out of the box, and is promised to receive four years of OS upgrades and six years of security patch updates. The HyperOS 3 update will arrive on the Note 15 shortly after its launch. Since smartphone users are holding on to their devices for longer periods, say 2.5 to 3 years, as noted by Xiaomi India’s COO, Sudhin Mathur, it’s good to see Redmi committing to a long software policy that also matches that of others like OnePlus, Vivo, and Nothing.

Boost in battery capacity

The Redmi Note 15 also sees a boost in battery capacity. It’s up from 5,110mAh found on the Note 14 to 5,220mAh. This is an EV-grade silicon-carbon battery that packs tons of ions confined into a small space, hence giving the phone an edge in terms of slimness. The smartphone can be quickly topped up using a bundled 45W fast charger, while it can also share its power with other devices through 18W reverse charging.

On paper, the Redmi Note 15 not only appears to have solid upgrades over the Redmi Note 15, but is also turning out to be a well-packed device, unless performance is your highest priority. Even though the Note 15’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor may suffice for daily use, it could face tough competition from rival processors under the Rs 25,000 segment. That being said, the 108MP primary camera, sleek and light build, and a decent-sized battery may add to the experience of daily use of the device.
