Redmi Note 15 SE 5G India launch set for April 2nd; teaser reveals design and colour

Highlights
  • Redmi Note 15 SE 5G will be the fourth phone in the series.
  • It will launch in a deep red colour with a gold coloured metal frame.
  • The smartphone is expected to share similar specifications to the Redmi Note 15.

The Redmi Note 15 series is getting a new ‘Special Edition’ model soon. The Xiaomi sub-brand has announced that the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G will launch in India on April 2nd. It was earlier speculated that this could be a new colour variant for the Redmi Note 15 series, but it turns out to be a new handset altogether. The new smartphone will succeed last year’s Redmi Note 14 SE, which launched as the most affordable model in the lineup. The Redmi Note 15 SE will most likely follow the same strategy, where it’s priced lower than its siblings but offers a similar experience.

Redmi Note 15 SE design officially revealed

The teaser image shared by Redmi shows a glimpse of the smartphone’s design. We can see the Redmi Note 15 SE in a deep red colour with a gold coloured metal frame, and what looks like a leather finish. The camera design can also be made out in the teaser, where it’s squircle-shaped, like the rest of the Redmi Note 15 series. The brand has also teased ‘faster, bolder, and simply better’ for the upcoming phone, and that it’s reserved for the special ones. The smartphone is also confirmed to go on sale via Flipkart in India.

As for its specifications, nothing has been revealed yet. But we can expect similarities to the Redmi Note 15. This is based on what we’ve seen with the Redmi Note 14 SE, which has the same hardware as the Redmi Note 14, with the only differences being the RAM and storage configuration and no in-box charger on the SE model. Redmi may also offer a slightly different design to give that special edition tag to the Redmi Note 15 SE.

What to expect from Redmi Note 15 SE

If Redmi continues with the same strategy, then here’s what you can expect from the Redmi Note 15 SE:

  • 6.77-inch (1,080 x 2,392 pixels) AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, 3,200 nits peak brightness.
  • Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC
  • 108MP + 8MP rear cameras, 20MP front camera
  • 5520mAh battery, 45W fast charging
  • IP65 + IP66 ratings

Redmi Note 15 SE could launch with these specifications, but with a lower RAM and storage capacity, and no in-box charger. If so, then the Redmi Note 15 SE can be recommended to people who want an affordable alternative to the Redmi Note 15 series. There might be compromises, though, on RAM capacity and a separate charger. But if those concerns don’t bother you, then you can go for it.

If your budget is strictly under Rs 20,000 and you prioritise an all-round experience, keep an eye on this launch, but verify specs on April 2nd. Since this is all speculation for now, it would be best to wait for official details, which we’ll know very soon.
