Amid the constant price revisions by smartphone brands across price segments, Samsung could be the latest to raise prices on several of its budget smartphones. Per a tip on X, the online-centric Galaxy M17, Galaxy F17, Galaxy M17e, and Galaxy F70e could see prices increase by up to Rs 3,000. While the new prices were expected to go live yesterday, they aren’t being reflected on Samsung’s online store or on Amazon and Flipkart, at least as of the time of drafting this story.

Revised pricing of Samsung’s budget smartphones
According to Debayan Roy (@Gadgetsdata) on X, all base variants of the Samsung Galaxy M17, Galaxy M17e, Galaxy F17, and Galaxy F70e will see a Rs 1,000 price hike. Similarly, the top-end variant of the Galaxy M17 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage could see a price increase of Rs 3,000.
The expected price revision could be linked to the ongoing memory crisis, which has led brands to jack up smartphone prices to offset higher memory procurement costs.

Are these smartphones still worth considering?
Samsung Galaxy M17 and Galaxy F17
The Galaxy M17 could start at Rs 18,999, while the Galaxy F17 may be priced at Rs 22,999, with both seeing an increase of Rs 1,000 each. Powered by the Exynos 1330, these smartphones’ performance is on par with most MediaTek Dimensity 6300-based phones selling under Rs 25,000. These include the Realme P4R and OnePlus N6 (Dimensity 6360 Apex).
However, what sets the Galaxy M17 and Galaxy F17 apart from others is the addition of a 6.7-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display, whereas others are limited to HD+ resolution and LCD technology. AMOLED panels tend to produce vibrant, richer colours, while the higher resolution should ensure crisp viewing of content. On top of this, these smartphones were promised six OS upgrades at launch, making them far superior to rivals in terms of software longevity.
If you’re seeking a reliable smartphone for daily tasks, especially for viewing content, the Galaxy M17 and F17, even at their higher prices, make for a solid purchase over the competition.
Galaxy M17e and Galaxy F70e
Possibly starting at Rs 17,499, the Galaxy M17e and Galaxy F70e with the Dimensity 6300 have an edge over the competition, since phones from Realme, OPPO, Vivo, and others with the same processor start at around Rs 20,000. Meaning, these Samsung devices could still offer the same level of performance as others at a lower price point.
Furthermore, with six OS upgrades on board, both phones are ahead of others in terms of software support.
