Vivo raises prices of T5 Pro, T5x and T4 Lite in India by up to Rs 3,000

Highlights
  • The Vivo T5 Pro’s base storage model now costs more than the POCO X8 Pro.
  • Despite the price hike, the Vivo T5x remains a suitable pick under Rs 30,000
  • Vivo may further raise the prices in the future.

Vivo has increased the prices of several smartphones in its T-series lineup in India, with hikes ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 depending on the model and storage variant. The revised prices affect the Vivo T5 Pro, Vivo T5x and Vivo T4 Lite, making some variants significantly more expensive than their launch prices. Smartphone brands are facing rising component costs and memory prices, prompting companies to revise pricing across their portfolios.

Vivo T5 Pro

8GB + 128GBRs 29,999Rs 32,999Rs 35,999
8GB + 256GBRs 33,999Rs 36,999Rs 39,999

The Vivo T5 Pro’s (review) retail price now sits at Rs 35,999, a Rs 6,000 increase since its launch for the base storage variant. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, it goes head-to-head against the POCO X8 Pro, which runs on the much superior Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, a brighter and punchier AMOLED display, and strong build materials in the form of an aluminium frame.

Since the battery on the POCO X8 Pro is limited to 6,500mAh, the Vivo T5 Pro has an advantage in this department by carrying a larger 9,020mAh cell for higher endurance. So, if battery and OriginOS 6 software are not your highest priority, going for the POCO X8 Pro could be a wiser decision over the T5 Pro for its superior hardware.

8GB + 128GBRs 20,999Rs 26,999Rs 27,999
8GB + 256GBRs 22,999Rs 28,999Rs 30,999

While the base 6GB + 128GB variant of Vivo T5x continues to sell for Rs 24,999, the 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB models have received a price hike of Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000, respectively. These prices now match the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, which comes with identical specifications, such as the MediaTek Dimensity 7400, a large FHD+ LCD display, and a massive 7,000mAh battery (7,200mAh on the T5x).

Therefore, for its hiked price, the Vivo T5x can still be considered given that the competition isn’t offering significantly better specifications and features.

The Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 smartphone segment is home to several Dimensity 6300 and Dimensity 6400-powered smartphones, such as the Realme C83 5G, OPPO K14x, and Moto G37. Since the Vivo T4 Lite is also equipped with the Dimensity 6300, users may still go for it for its slim form factor. However, the smartphone was launched over a year ago, resulting in fewer software upgrades.

Therefore, opting for a recently released smartphone makes more sense, such as the Moto G37. While it will only receive the Android 17 update, it will remain supported with security patches for up to three years.

If you’ve been planning to purchase either of these phones or any smartphone, now is the right time. With no signs of the situation easing, companies are expected to raise prices even further. So, it’s wise to act quickly before it’s too late and you end up paying a higher price.
