Vivo just kicked things off for the V80 series with the launch of the standard Vivo V80 in India earlier this month, but a more affordable model could be on the way. The Vivo V80 FE has appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website with model number V2624, hinting at a possible India launch.
The listing follows the phone’s appearance on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification website on October 8th, where the model number was linked to the V80 FE name. Neither certification listing reveals its specifications, so details about its processor, cameras, battery and pricing remain unknown. Vivo has also yet to announce the phone or confirm its launch plans.
The BIS listing suggests that the V80 FE is being prepared for the Indian market, although certification alone doesn’t confirm when it will launch. Its appearance also comes shortly after the standard Vivo V80 went on sale in India on October 13th, with October 16th i.e today being mentioned as the “Date of grant”.
The Vivo V80 starts at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB + 128GB storage variant, going up to Rs 79,999 for the 512GB model. It focuses on photography with Zeiss cameras, including a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 50MP telephoto camera, alongside a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display and a 7,200mAh battery with 90W charging. The FE variant could offer a more accessible alternative, much like its predecessor, the Vivo V70 FE. However, there’s no confirmation yet of how much Vivo plans to change the hardware or where the new model will sit in the lineup.
The Vivo V70 FE offers a useful indication of what the next FE model could target. It features a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo chipset, a 200MP main camera and a 7,000mAh battery with 90W charging. Its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant launched at Rs 37,999 and now costs around Rs 44,999. With the V80 starting at a considerably higher price, the V80 FE could appeal to buyers who want Vivo’s cameras and large batteries without spending over Rs 60,000. However, its price is likely to be an important factor, especially as the V70 FE already offers a high-resolution main camera and fast charging.
For now, buyers who need a phone immediately can consider the V70 FE, while those willing to wait should look out for more concrete details about the V80 FE. Its certification listing is an early sign of a possible launch, not confirmation of its specifications, price or availability.
