Vivo could be gearing up to update its premium mid-range V series in India. This would be the Vivo V80 series, which will succeed the V70 series that launched in India earlier this year, in February. It has now been tipped that the Vivo V80 series is arriving in India next month. Based on the details revealed, the V80 could very well be based on the Vivo S60 series that launched in China last month.

According to tipster Sanju on X, the Vivo V80 series is slated to launch in India in mid-August. The V80 series is also tipped to cost the same as the Reno 16, which is priced at Rs 61,999. This isn’t surprising considering the ongoing price hikes, and the Vivo V70 series itself is costing more now than at launch.

Based on the specifications leaked, the Vivo V80 series appears to be a rebrand of the Vivo S60 series that launched in China last month. The hardware adds up, except for the chipset, which is Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 on the S60 and MediaTek Dimensity 7500 on the S60e. Vivo could be tweaking it for the Indian market. However, it would be the same as the Vivo V70, which also uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC.
The upgrades would be the 144Hz refresh rate and the larger 7,200mAh battery on the V80 series. A 144Hz refresh rate means incredibly fluid scrolling and a competitive edge in mobile gaming, making fast-paced action feel more responsive. The 7200mAh battery, combined with 90W fast charging, suggests users can expect extended usage, potentially two full days for moderate users, and rapid top-ups, ideal for those constantly on the go.
Since the lineup refresh is taking place only six months after the V70 series, the upgrades will most likely be incremental. With no official confirmation yet, we should wait for more details before jumping to conclusions. For now, the Vivo V80 series could be worth waiting for if you want a compact and smooth display, Zeiss-branded cameras, a large battery, and a premium design. As for those who are already using the V70 series, the upgrades might not seem significant.
