Vivo has confirmed that its newly launched foldable, the Vivo X Fold 6, will not remain exclusive to China. The company reportedly told Android Authority that the foldable will get a global launch, although it hasn’t revealed the list of markets or a timeline yet.
The confirmation comes at a time when Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 next month. The Vivo X Fold 6 stands out on paper with a large battery, flagship hardware and Zeiss cameras, making it a strong alternative in the foldable segment.
The Vivo X Fold 6 starts at CNY 7,999 (around Rs 1.11 lakh) for the 12GB + 256GB model. The 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at CNY 8,999 (around Rs 1.25 lakh), CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1.39 lakh) and CNY 10,999 (around Rs 1.53 lakh), respectively. Vivo has also introduced a Black Gold Edition with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage for CNY 11,299 (around Rs 1.57 lakh).
For reference, last year’s Vivo X Fold 5 debuted in China at CNY 6,999 for the base variant, indicating a notable price increase for its successor.
The Vivo X Fold 6 is powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset and packs up to 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM with up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. It runs Android 16-based OriginOS 6 Fold.
Its biggest highlight is the 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the largest on any foldable smartphone. Vivo has managed to fit the large battery into a relatively slim chassis that measures 4.4 mm when unfolded and 9.4 mm when folded. At 228 gms, it is only slightly heavier than rivals like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Honor Magic V6.
Compared to rivals, the X Fold 6’s battery capacity is its biggest advantage. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, the OPPO Find N6 offers 6,000mAh, while the Honor Magic V6 comes with a 6,660mAh cell. Only the Chinese 1TB variant of the Honor Magic V6 has a larger 7,150mAh battery.
The foldable sports an 8.02-inch Samsung M14 AMOLED inner display and a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. Vivo says the hinge is rated for 600,000 folds, while the phone also carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance.
For photography, the X Fold 6 features a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera setup comprising a 200MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. Vivo has also introduced support for a second-generation 200mm external telephoto lens, a feature aimed at photography enthusiasts. Other highlights include dual 20MP selfie cameras, 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NavIC support.
Vivo has only confirmed that the X Fold 6 will launch globally and has not announced the markets that will receive it. The company has previously brought premium foldables such as the X Fold 3 Pro and X Fold 5 to India, so a launch in the country remains a possibility. If the X Fold 6 does arrive in India, it could offer buyers a compelling alternative for those who prioritise battery life, fast charging and camera versatility. That said, prospective buyers may want to wait for Vivo’s regional launch plans and pricing before making a purchase decision.
