Vivo has taken the wraps off its latest foldable, the Vivo X Fold 6, in China. The new book-style foldable packs a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the biggest we’ve seen on a foldable smartphone, along with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset, Zeiss-backed cameras and an upgraded Samsung M14 foldable display. The X Fold 6 succeeds last year’s X Fold 5 and will go on sale in China from July 1st.
The Vivo X Fold 6 starts at CNY 7,999 (around Rs 1.11 lakh) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB models are priced at CNY 8,999 (around Rs 1.25 lakh), CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1.39 lakh) and CNY 10,999 (around Rs 1.53 lakh), respectively.
Vivo has also introduced a Black Gold Edition with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, priced at CNY 11,299 (around Rs 1.57 lakh). The phone will be available in Blue Hole, Polar Night and Salt Lake colours.
The biggest selling point of the Vivo X Fold 6 will be the battery. At 7,000mAh, the X Fold 6 sits ahead of most premium foldables currently on the market. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, OPPO’s Find N6 comes with a 6,000mAh cell, while the standard Honor Magic V6 offers 6,660mAh. The only foldable with a larger battery is the Chinese 1 TB variant of the Honor Magic V6, which ships with a 7,150mAh battery.
Normally, the trade-off with big battery foldables is added thickness and weight. Notably, Vivo hasn’t had to make the phone dramatically bulkier to achieve this. The X Fold 6 measures 4.4 mm when unfolded and 9.4 mm when folded. That’s only slightly thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, OPPO Find N6 and Honor Magic V6, but the difference isn’t dramatic. At 228 gms, it’s also a little heavier than Z Fold 7 at 215 gms foldable and the Magic V6 at at 224 gms. Vivo seems to be okay trading a few grams and millimetres here and there for a much larger battery.
For display, the Vivo X Fold 6 sports an 8.02-inch Samsung M14 AMOLED inner display and a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support and up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. Vivo says the hinge is rated for 600,000 folds, while the phone also carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance.
On the camera front, Vivo has equipped the X Fold 6 with a Zeiss-tuned triple rear setup comprising a 200MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. The company is also bringing support for its second-generation 200 mm external telephoto lens, giving photography enthusiasts more flexibility for long-range shots. There are two 20MP selfie cameras, one on each display, and the phone supports video recording at up to 8K.
The foldable is powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Other highlights include 80W wired and 40W wireless charging, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, NavIC support and Android 16-based OriginOS 6 Fold.
Vivo hasn’t confirmed whether the X Fold 6 will launch in India, but an arrival looks likely based on past trends. The company entered India’s premium foldable segment with the X Fold 3 Pro in 2024 before following it up with the X Fold 5 in July 2025, priced at Rs 1.49 lakh.
If the X Fold 6 makes its way to India, it will compete with foldables including the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and maybe even the rumoured iPhone Ultra. On paper, Vivo appears to have chosen endurance over chasing the thinnest design, while also strengthening its camera hardware. Those prioritising battery and cameras in a foldable should look out for the Vivo X Fold 6 announcement.
