Vivo has announced the global launch of the Vivo X Fold6, taking its latest book-style foldable beyond China, where it debuted in June. The phone combines a slim design with a large battery, upgraded camera hardware developed with Zeiss and software features aimed at multitasking. While Vivo hasn’t officially said anything yet, an India launch has been tipped for the coming week.
The Vivo X Fold6 features an 8.02-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.51-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED cover screen, both with adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The inner screen is marginally smaller than the 8.03-inch panel on the predecessor, the Vivo X Fold5, while it is larger than the 7.58-inch inner display on the Xiaomi 18 Fold. Both displays offer up to 5,000 nits peak brightness.
The phone is powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. Its camera system includes a 200MP main sensor with OIS and Zeiss T* coating, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera with macro photography support. This is a significant change from the X Fold5’s triple 50MP rear camera setup, with the higher-resolution main sensor potentially capturing more detail and offering greater flexibility when cropping images. The Xiaomi 18 Fold also features a 200MP main camera, with Leica branding, making camera processing and performance important points of comparison rather than resolution alone. The X Fold6 has 20MP cameras on both the inner and outer displays.
The 6,900mAh battery is another notable upgrade over the 6,000mAh batteries on both the Vivo X Fold5 and Xiaomi 18 Fold. The phone supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. It runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 and adds multitasking features such as up to four resizable app windows, drag-and-drop between apps, AI meeting summaries and desktop mode on an external display.
The X Fold6 measures 4.4 mm when unfolded and weighs 228 gms in the Prism Black finish. It also carries IP58, IP59, IPX8 and IPX9 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Vivo has not officially announced the India launch date or pricing. Tipster Abhishek Yadav has claimed that the phone could launch in India on October 6th, with 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB configurations. These details remain unconfirmed.
In China, the X Fold6 starts at CNY 7,999 (around Rs 1.1 lakh). For context, the Vivo X Fold5 launched in India at Rs 1,59,999, although it’s now available at slightly lower prices through discounts and bank offers.
The X Fold6’s larger battery and upgraded main camera could appeal to users who want a foldable that can handle extended work sessions and photography without relying on a second phone. Its eventual Indian price will determine how it compares with rival foldables, including Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, as well as whether existing X Fold5 owners have enough reason to upgrade.
