Vivo X200 FE launches in India as a compact flagship with 6,500mAh battery, Zeiss cameras
The Vivo X200 FE has officially launched in India as the brand’s latest compact smartphone. This marks Vivo’s first real attempt at delivering a flagship-grade experience in a smaller form factor in India, and it has been anticipated for some time. While early reports suggested the launch of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, the company has instead introduced the X200 FE. Both phones share similar specifications, and it’s also refreshing to see a compact option in a market dominated by large-screen devices.
The Vivo X200 FE will go head-to-head with the OnePlus 13s (review), another compact flagship that features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 5,850mAh battery, and a 6.32-inch display. We were impressed with the 13s during our review, particularly for its size and usability, which you can read about here. It’s even priced the same as the 13s. Whether the Vivo X200 FE can match or surpass that experience is something we’ll explore in our full review soon.
With the Vivo X200 FE, you get a slightly smaller 6.31-inch 1.5K ( 2640 × 1216 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 5000 nits peak brightness, 1800 nits high brightness mode, and 2160 Hz ultra-high-frequency dimming, which should help in low-light environments. The phone should give a good in-hand feel thanks to its compact size. It might also be mistaken for an iPhone 16 from the back for its vertically aligned camera setup. The Vivo X200 FE is available in Amber Yellow, Luxe Black, and Frost Blue colours. Unfortunately, the Fashion Pink colour hasn’t been brought here.

The handset also boasts an IP68/IP69 rating, the highest dust and water resistance for phones. In comparison, the OnePlus 13s offers only an IP65 rating.
Powering the Vivo X200 FE is the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, a flagship chipset from 2024 but with a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. The chipset is paired with Immortalis-G720 GPU and DV technology, which is said to reduce GPU memory bandwidth usage by 40 percent and cut power consumption by 15 percent. The phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS3.1 512GB storage with 12GB of expandable RAM.
In terms of optics, there’s a 50MP Zeiss telephoto lens with up to digital 100x zoom, 3x optical zoom, and 6x lossless zoom, a 50MP Zeiss IMX921 primary sensor with OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, you get a 50MP wide-angle front camera with the X200 FE. It also features Aura Light Portrait with multiple focal lengths, including 23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm. The Aura Light here is an LED ring on the camera module, which works as a smart 3D fill light for the rear camera. While the cameras seem promising on paper, it remains to be seen whether the 8MP ultrawide and software image processing can match the OnePlus 13s’ real-world photography performance.
The smartphone packs a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. Vivo says that a 10-minute charge gives you up to 3 hours of video streaming. The battery capacity is quite impressive for the phone’s size, thanks to silicon anode technology (3rd gen), which Vivo says not only saves space but also increases the battery’s lifespan, and gives better charge retention. It’s also worth mentioning that this is even bigger than the OnePlus 13s’ 5,850mAh battery.
On the software front, the Vivo X200 FE runs Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. It’s also baked with AI features, including Google’s Gemini and Circle to Search, and native features like AI Screen Translation, Live Text, and Smart Call Assistant. Vivo’s Funtouch OS has often leaned heavily on feature-richness, and with Android 15 plus Gemini baked in, the X200 FE could offer one of the more forward-looking software experiences in this segment, assuming it runs smoothly out of the box.
Vivo has launched the X200 FE at a starting price of Rs 54,999 for the base model with 12GB RAM and 25GB storage. It comes in another variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, and this one is priced at Rs 59,999. The pricing is similar to that of the OnePlus 13s, its immediate rival. So, we now have two flagship compact phones under Rs 55,000, and it will be interesting to see how the Vivo X200 FE holds up in our full review. Based on specs alone, the X200 FE seems to offer more than just compact convenience. Its 6,500mAh battery, Zeiss optics, and MediaTek’s latest flagship chip could make it a sleeper hit for power users who don’t want a bulky phone.
With the X200 FE, Vivo is taking a clear shot at reclaiming the “compact flagship” crown, a segment that’s finally heating up again in 2025. What’s surprising is how much Vivo has managed to squeeze into this slim form factor: a massive battery, triple Zeiss optics, and a high-refresh display. But specs alone won’t be enough. Its success will hinge on whether the software experience can keep pace, and if the telephoto and ultrawide sensors deliver on real-world quality. Still, on paper, this is one of the more exciting compact phones we’ve seen in a while, and competition for OnePlus just got real.
