Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone series already has four models, including the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. But it looks like Xiaomi isn’t done with the lineup yet, as rumours about a new ‘Max’ model have surfaced again. We had come across this Xiaomi 17 Max model earlier this year, and now details about its launch have cropped up again.
Xiaomi 17 Max launch timeline, key specs leaked
According to tipster Kartikey Singh on X, the Xiaomi 17 Max is scheduled to launch next month. The smartphone will debut in China if the leak turns out to be accurate. There’s no official word from Xiaomi yet. The tipster adds that this handset would be the last to join the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which makes sense, since it already has four phones.
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to feature a large 6.9-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This would be the same screen size as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Ultra. The handset will reportedly feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset under its hood. The Xiaomi 17 Max is getting the top-end flagship chipset, which means performance should be on par with its siblings.
Xiaomi 17 Max is also expected to house an 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support. This would be the biggest battery in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, even more than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 7,500mAh unit. It could house a triple-camera setup with a 200MP primary, 50MP ultra-wide, and 50MP periscope lens. More details are unknown, like the sensor used and whether it will have Leica tuning like the other Xiaomi 17 phones.

There’s still a lot to know about the Xiaomi 17 Max, but based on the details so far, it could be a ‘bigger’ version of the compact Xiaomi 17. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max models stand out for their secondary displays, which are missing on the standard Xiaomi 17. The Xiaomi 17 Max could also launch without one and feature a design similar to the Xiaomi 17. But the ‘Max’ branding here may be to emphasise the large display and battery size.
So, the Xiaomi 17 Max can be recommended to those who want a big-screened Xiaomi flagship without the secondary display, and possibly at a more affordable price too. If these specs hold, and you fit this user profile, it might be worth waiting for official details.
Xiaomi was one of the first brands to launch its flagship series, with the Ultra model coming out later. The Xiaomi 17 Max could be a way for the brand to reignite interest among consumers for its flagship lineup.
