The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are set to launch in India on March 11th. The global reveal took place last weekend, and now the Indian pricing and availability details will be made official next week. These may not be the only Xiaomi 17 series phones launching in India, as the Xiaomi 17T is also tipped to debut here. This would be the first time Xiaomi brings its T-series smartphone to India, possibly targeting the premium mid-range or sub-flagship category where it currently doesn’t have any products.
The Xiaomi 17T is expected to launch in India by the end of April or in May, according to tipster Abhishek Yadav. Xiaomi hasn’t launched the 17T series yet, but it has been rumoured for quite some time. The lineup will include two phones: Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. It’s not clear if both phones will arrive in India or not. According to leaks so far, the Xiaomi 17T series is expected to carry Leica optics with a 50MP + 12MP + 50MP triple rear camera setup and a 32MP front camera. The difference might lie in the primary and telephoto cameras.
The standard Xiaomi 17T is said to house a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the 17T Pro might get a Dimensity 9500. Battery capacity could be 6,500mAh with 67W fast charging on the Xiaomi 17T and 8,500mAh with 100W fast charging on the Pro model.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro could be based on the Redmi K90 Ultra, which hasn’t launched yet, but is expected to debut in China this April. So, the Redmi K90 Ultra would be the Chinese variant, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro launches as the global model. If so, then the 17T Pro could feature a 6.8-inch OLED 1.5K display with a 165Hz refresh rate, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The smartphone might also come with a built-in cooling fan and a metal frame.
These specs suggest the Xiaomi 17T Pro will be close to a flagship and performance-focused with its high refresh rate panel, large battery, cooling fan, and top-end chipset. The standard Xiaomi 17T will be the affordable alternative, possibly sitting in the upper mid-range segment. Based on what we know so far, the Xiaomi 17T can be considered by those looking for an upper mid-range phone from Xiaomi, so they may want to wait a little longer before making a purchase. The 17T Pro is clearly aimed at power users who want maximum performance and endurance.
The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra India prices have been tipped as well. According to the same tipster, quoting a source, the Xiaomi 17 could cross Rs 1 lakh, while the 17 Ultra might be priced around Rs 1.4 lakh. If true, it would be an extremely steep price hike, especially for the Xiaomi 17 as its predecessor, Xiaomi 15, launched at Rs 64,999.
While rising prices are the trend right now, this could put Xiaomi at a disadvantage as rivals like the OPPO Find X9 and Vivo X300 are priced below Rs 80,000. We should still wait for the official price reveal to see what Xiaomi has planned for its flagship lineup. Anyone planning to buy the Xiaomi 17 series should definitely wait for the official details and compare them with existing rivals.
