Xiaomi 18 Fold set to launch on September 7th; compact foldable design officially revealed
Xiaomi is set to launch its next foldable on September 7th. Ahead of the official reveal, Xiaomi has given us a glimpse of the foldable, featuring a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8. It looks like the compact form factor with a wider aspect ratio is the new trend for foldables going forward. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is said to be the company’s most advanced flagship yet.
Xiaomi 18 Fold design revealed
In a teaser video, the Xiaomi 18 Fold’s design has been revealed, giving us the clearest look yet at the foldable. It’s a compact book-style folding design with a slim horizontal camera bar at the back. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold8, which has sharp edges, the Xiaomi 18 Fold features rounded corners. It features a new “dragon bone” hinge and comes in a deep red colour, giving it a classy look.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 5.38-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch main display when unfolded. The horizontal camera strip houses three sensors with an LED flash and the Leica branding. It will be powered by the new Xiaomi Xring O3 chip, a 3nm deca-core chipset poised to deliver impressive benchmark scores and raw performance. The foldable is expected to launch with up to 16GB of RAM
The upcoming Xiaomi foldable will ship with Hyper OS 4 based on Android 17 out of the box. It’s also confirmed to launch as one of the first phones with Chinese chipmaker CXMT’s new LPDDR6 memory.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is tipped to feature an IP68 rating for durability, which would make it the second foldable with this IP rating after the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It’s also tipped to house a 6,000mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging support. If true, the Xiaomi 18 Fold would offer one of the largest battery capacities among foldables.
