DXRacer Martian Pro gaming chair review: A benchmark for premium gaming chairs

The gaming chair market in India has matured considerably over the past few years, offering a growing selection of options from brands such as Green Soul, Drogo, Ant Esports, and Cybeart alongside international players like Razer, Corsair, and Cooler Master. Despite the increasing competition, few names carry the same legacy as DXRacer.

Widely credited with creating the first modern gaming chair by adapting racing car seats for desktop use, the company helped define a category that has since become a staple of gaming setups around the world. Although DXRacer products are not officially sold in India, the company does have an India-focused web presence, hinting at broader plans for the market. In fact, the company reached out to give us an experience of the DXRacer Martian Pro, its most premium gaming chair offering.

Bringing together a host of comfort-focused features alongside a familiar gaming-chair design, the Martian Pro stands out with unique additions such as an electric reclining mechanism and integrated airbag lumbar support— features that are still uncommon even in the premium gaming chair segment. Having spent a couple of weeks using the Martian Pro as my primary chair for both work and gaming, here are my thoughts.

Table of Contents

From box to battle station

The Martian Pro arrives in a large, hefty box that’s definitely a two-person job to carry. In fact, it feels noticeably heavier than most gaming chairs on the market, including my current Green Soul Monster Ultimate. That’s largely due to its premium metal construction and the additional electronics that power the chair’s smart features.

The chair is available in two sizes—L and XL—and I received the L variant, which is designed for users up to 185cm tall and weighing up to 125kg. Opening the box reveals a neatly organized package with all the components securely packed. You also get a large insert listing all the included accessories, along with a quick-start assembly guide.

Assembling the Martian Pro is fairly straightforward and much like putting together any other gaming chair. Plus, it doesn’t require any special tools, as everything needed is included in the box. The instructions are easy to follow, and the entire process took me around 40-50 minutes. There’s even an instruction video in case you need visual assistance. The only part where you might appreciate an extra pair of hands is attaching the backrest to the seat, as both pieces are quite heavy. Once the chair is assembled, you need to slot in the battery pack at the bottom of the base, and connect all the wiring, which are clearly marked.

Engineered to stand out

The Martian Pro is unlike any gaming chair I’ve used before. While it retains the familiar racing-inspired DNA that DXRacer is known for, it’s the technology packed within that immediately sets it apart. Despite housing a motorized recline mechanism, airbag lumbar support, massage system, seat ventilation, heating elements and a removable battery, the chair doesn’t look overly complicated. Everything is neatly integrated into the design, giving it a premium and surprisingly clean appearance.

It comes in a black EPU leatherette finish, which feels softer and more refined than the PU leather found on most gaming chairs. There’s also a distinctive red stitching pattern running down the centre of the backrest, accompanied by geometric triangular accents that give the chair a unique identity without being overly flashy. The back and base of the chair feature perforations that aren’t just for aesthetics. They allow the integrated ventilation, heating, and airbag massager functions to work effectively while also improving breathability during long sessions.

According to DXRacer, the chair uses a steel frame paired with high-density cold-cure foam, giving it a reassuringly solid feel without sacrificing comfort. Even the five-star wheelbase is constructed from metal rather than plastic, adding to the chair’s excellent stability and premium feel.

The chair comes with two traditional levers right underneath the seat for the gas-lift height and tilt angle adjustments. A rocker switch on the left controls the electronic recline, while the right side houses directional buttons for adjusting the 4D airbag lumbar support along with dedicated massage controls. Separate buttons positioned on the seat activate the built-in heating and ventilation systems, while a magnetic memory-foam headrest and 4D armrests complete the package. It’s a solid design that blends premium materials with genuinely useful technology, making the Martian Pro feel more like a high-end piece of smart furniture than a conventional gaming chair.

Luxury at the push of a button

The Martian Pro is designed for comfort. At the same time, it redefines what a premium gaming chair can offer. You get all the adjustments you’d expect at this price point, including 4D armrests (which are removable), height adjustment, and a backrest that reclines electronically from 90 to 135 degrees. Unlike conventional gaming chairs that use a mechanical lever, the Martian Pro uses an electronic motorized recline that feels smooth and allows for precise positioning. Unfortunately, it does take around 20 seconds to move from fully upright to fully reclined.

Then there is the electronically adjustable lumbar support. Instead of a fixed cushion or mechanical dial, the Martian Pro uses internal airbags that can be independently adjusted in four directions using the controls on the right side of the chair. This allows you to fine-tune the amount and position of lumbar support far more precisely than most gaming chairs.

The built-in ventilation and heating come with three intensity levels. During extended gaming sessions, the ventilation proved useful in keeping the seat cool, especially in the ongoing summer season. The heating function is also a welcome addition and should be suitable for colder weather. The eight-point massage system is what I used the most, as it helps during long gaming sessions to ease your back.

Additionally, there are multiple massage modes that can be cycled through using the dedicated massage button. However, I do wish the chair would remember the last selected preset. Instead, each time you turn the massage function on, it resets to the default preset, requiring you to cycle through the modes again. Notably, the ventilation, heating, and massage features have a 10-minute duration after which they switch off automatically.

Powering everything is a removable 5,000mAh battery that slots in underneath the seat, which can last up to 360 hours before needing a recharge. The battery can be charged using the bundled wall charger; however, it is important to note that all the electronic functions rely on the battery, so they won’t function if the chair runs out of charge.

Combined with the chair’s wide seat base, which is comfortable even when sitting cross-legged, and generous cushioning, the Martian Pro successfully delivers a feature-rich and comfortable seating experience.

Verdict

If there’s a gaming chair that truly justifies the term flagship, it’s the DXRacer Martian Pro. It takes the familiar formula of a premium gaming chair and elevates it with features that are usually reserved for luxury car seats. More importantly, these aren’t gimmicks as they genuinely enhance the overall sitting experience, especially during long hours of work or gaming. Add to that the excellent build quality, premium materials, and thoughtful ergonomics, and the Martian Pro stands out as one of the most premium gaming chairs currently available.

That said, let’s address the elephant in the room. Priced at $899 (roughly ₹85,000 before import duties and taxes), the Martian Pro is also firmly in luxury territory. This makes it difficult to recommend for the average buyer when there are plenty of capable gaming chairs available for a fraction of the price.

Perhaps the biggest caveat for Indian buyers is availability. As of now, the DXRacer Martian Pro is not officially available in India, which means purchasing one would require importing it at a significantly higher cost. However, if DXRacer eventually launches the Martian Pro in the Indian market at a competitive price, it has the potential to become the benchmark for premium gaming chairs. Until then, it’s best viewed as a showcase of what’s possible when comfort, technology, and build quality take priority over affordability.
