Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy J Max offers a gigantic 7-inch large TFT display. The screen has a resolution of 800 x 1,280 pixels retaining a pixel density of 216 ppi. The phone comes enclosed in a slim body of 8.7mm thickness and is available in black and gold colour options to choose from.
OS and Configuration
The phablet runs on Android v5.1 (Lollipop) operating system. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. It is paired with 1.5GB RAM that handles multitasking. Considering its price, the performance of this device is a bit of a letdown and might not be suitable for heavy usage, unlike many other phones available in this price range today.
Camera and Storage
For photography, the device sports an 8MP main camera with autofocus and LED flash. It is accompanied by 2MP front facing camera for taking selfies and doing video calls. Its rear camera has an aperture of f/1.9 while the front one has f/2.2 aperture. Similar to most other Samsung devices this one too offers a good camera quality. The device houses 8GB space of internal storage, which is expandable upto 200GB using microSD card.
Connectivity and Battery
On the connectivity front, options available in this device are dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi with hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and microUSB 2.0. The enormous display of this device, requires an equally powerful battery. This requirement is successfully met by its 4,000mAh li-ion battery.
